    If someone is abusive would you do them for? Would it be a ticket / arrest?.2 examples; You are walking down the street and someone shouts "f*****g pig" Or if you are patrolling in the car and someone sticks their middle finger up at you??

    In the clip below it shows disorder in Dunoon (Scotland) where Strathclyde police are restraining a violent male,when his friend runs up and kicks the officer off his friend whos on the ground. At that point batons are drawn and the male struck and brought to the ground,but still resists arrest. at 1min-11secs in the video the officer appears to kick the the male in the stomach, is his actions proportionate and justified? Whats your opinion? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9Ky2Tno19I&playnext=1&list=PLE764E043B942B473

    I got to thinking; For those of you who are Special Constables - If you ever joined as a regular officer would you consider still doing some kind of voluntary work? For those of you who are regular officers - Have you ever thought about / Do you currently give up your time as a volunteer? Feel free to post more choices for the poll, these are from the top of my head.

    Thought I'd share this with you. I saw it first on another site and don't mind admitting I think it's fantastic!!! It would appear over 13.5 million people have seen it too. TB

    Someone said something to me the other day....and it got me thinking! What laws are Police exempt from? (Can you provide the evidence please as well) I'll start with the first (as per another thread on "quitting"): Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986. Regulation 107. Leaving motor vehicles unattended. (1) Save as provided in paragraph (2)... ...the stopping of the engine shall not apply in respect of a vehicle :- (a) being used for...police purposes;

    you can't put a cordon in place without people claiming that they "must" come through....but if the police don't do something and someone get's hurt then the police didn't do enough. A situation that's still ongoing - a police seige where he may have a gun: http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/8919727.Roads_closed_as_Catford_man_threatens_to_set_fire_to_house/ "It's ridiculous. "I only live around the corner. Surely they can let the rest of us go about our business. "I don't care about any gun, I just want to get home." Get a grip pal! what do people actually want us to do...?!?!

    This hasn't happened to me, nor do I do it, let me just get the clear I am just wondering that's all. If you pulled someone driving a car and found a mobile phone in between there legs maybe the typical place where someone would put the phone in readiness to use the phone whilst driving would you take action or is there not enough evidence ?

    On BBC One all this week is a five part series called Neighbourhood Blues, hosted by the crime watch presenter Rav Wilding. I watched the first 20 minutes of episode one, seems pretty decent. http://www.bbc.co.uk...lues_Episode_1/

    Just wondering what do other forces do on the pre-patrol weekend. In WYP our training base is turned into like a mini-village where we are put in pairs/group with vests/radios/hats and sent to different situations within the base and there will be regular officers acting out. I think during this weekend we learnt the most. So do all forces do this or if not what do yours do. Just curious.

    Hello everyone, I just submitted my application for Special Constable in the MET online and thought it would be a good idea to join the forum. From what I have read here so far the recruitment process can take a fair bit of time which at least gives me a chance to brush up my skills and improve my fitness etc, etc. I must confess I am a little concerned about the whole process, my record isn't squeaky clean and my handwriting is not very neat which to be honest was why I applied online, I usually print everything in block capitals and have been writing like that for the last 20 years so its going to take me a while to adjust to writing properly again, I can actually wri…

    With all the issues at the moment ie some forces recruiting only or partially from SCs ,SCs being seen as a pool of recruits I wondered what about 'career specials'? Some people may just want to be specials and have no ambition for the regulars but be fantastic specials.A person may have many reasons for wanting to stay as an SC ,family ,they may love their job but want an intresting hobby,even the hackneyed ,to give something back' I joined in 84 and most of us in then were career Specials~I was wasnt was again .My friend is still in after about 30 years. I did 23 years.Today would wanting to be a Special actually have a negative impact on recruitment chances?

    Just wondering if any of those who have been immunized against Hep B went through any side effects. I had my 2nd injection on Monday and, as of last night (Thursday) I am now experiencing headache and sore throat/tonsils which I'm assuming is related to the jab. Anyone experience anything similar? Cant afford to be ill! Aggghhh.
