The other day was the first time I ever had to arrest for Section 50 of the Police Reform Act 2002. S50 gives the police the power to ask for your name and address if they reasonablly believe you to be engaged in "anti-social behaviour", Anti Social behaviour is defined as behaviour likely to cause harrassment, alarm or distress, the same as under the offence of section 5 public order act. I have been having trouble with my neighbour for about 2 years now since I moved into this house. She plays extremely loud music most days and nights. I have been through the environmental health process a few times but haven't chased it up due to me being too lenient and giving her the benefit of the doubt as she's an alcoholic and when she does play her music for weeks at a time she always gives it a break for about 7 days that makes me think she would stop all together and I withdraw my environmental health complaint. Hi Just wondering what the easiest way to remember the leagal jargon when breathalizing someone.. For example - I have reasonable grounds to believe you have been drinking whilst driving and therefore require a specimen of breath, it is an offence not to give a specimen of breath or refusal for which you may be prosocuted - have you had a drink in the last 20 minutes , cigarette 10 minutes, breath freshener / mouth wash 2 minutes ? - then procede with breath test. Do you actually need to give this information at the time ? or is it just best practice . I see diderent officers doing the same thing many different ways .

I heard on our local news and have found here that there are discussions taking place to possibly amend the periodicity of the MOT in an effort to appease motorists over their cost of vehicle usage. It is interesting that the same week the figure on the number of vehicles failing the MOT were released by VOSA under a FOI request. see here From a policing point of view I am appalled that the periodicity would be increased considering the number of vehicles stopped which have defects that the owner requires a police officer to point out to them because they don't perform appropriate checks themselves. I live in brighouse in West Yorkshire and I want to work in brighouse when I finish my training in august, Ive been told you usually don't get based where you live and I might have to go to Halifax, as I don't have a car and late at night busses don't run etc I really want to work at brighouse police station. We all know how much policing time riots and "non-violent" protests take up. If a company for example called Protest Security NW was set up to help put more uniforms in the way of rioters causing damage to others or property, would this be legal under an SIA licence or in your eyes would it need to be put through the government for special consideration? This is purely hypothetical - A security guard wouldn't be able to carry a ASP or CS however what's stopping them carrying a shield it's not a weapon it's like a hard hat! - Your views would be good!

Hi Everyone As from the topic title i have been inspired to carry out some research after failing vetting for the specials. This came as quite a blow to me, as im of the opinion its due to my "father" who i have nothing to do with. I study Criminology and Psychology at the University of Gloucestershire and have just handed in my Dissertation proposal form, and just want to test the water on hear, as this would be my primary source of data. Hi guys and girls :D Thought I'd post up and introduce myself.. I've just finished a 5 year apprenticeship type scheme as a surveyor which I started after school/college.. I've always wanted to join the police in some way, and have been thinking about joining as a Special for the past few years.. After a conversation the other night it got me thinking. Currently the Met are only accepting applications from serving specials and PCSOs, I can see other forces following this entrance route. So, should forces be allowed to either get rid of the Day 1 & 2 recruitment exams, and introduce their own assessment methods such as being observed by trained assessors or similar. I think this would create a more level playing field as some people struggle at the Day 1 which is a poor test of people skills as it is a very fake environment and allows good people to fail and poor ones to pass Unfortunatly I'm unable to add a pole so if any of the mods feel this could do with…
