Found this video while browsing YouTube, do you think the officer who was first dealing with the male, pressed his emergency button (not sure of the correct name) on his radio to receive so much back up?

...you search someone: Edit: This video shows a prisoner commiting suicide, with a gun, viewer discretion advised. Bas Link I've broken the link twice as it is quite it's shocking and contains some swearing. However I personally think that it does illustrate the importance of searching people and never assuming. Mods, feel free to delete, but I think it's worth prospective officers and those currently in post taking a look. I saw it a few years ago and even now it reminds me as to why I thoroughly search someone and even when you think you're in a safe environment, take nothing for granted.

Over the Easter break, I spent ten days in Spain. I encountered a situation whilst away, and just wondered what you might have done, or whether or not you think I acted correctly. I must stress I did not (and obviously could not) act in any 'Police' capacity, but simply as a citizen trying to do the right thing. It started as follows. 7pm one evening, I went to the lobby of the hotel, downstairs, to send an email from the Internet terminal. As I go downstairs, I notice a man, I would estimate early 40s, about my height (5'10) asleep in the chair, in front of this computer. He was not using the machine, simply sleeping, with his head on the desk! I try and gently tap …

Hello, Im a journalism student and I have a really tight deadline so if anybody would be able to help me out by answering some of my questions that would be great! I am doing a feature for my University Assignment on volunteer police officers and how they have regular normal jobs in the day and in the evening/weekends they give up their free time to help the police force. I wanted to focus on the part they play to the police service, and the reasons behind it. And basically just get as much information and colour to the piece as possible. It would be amazing if anyone would be able to help me out and answer some of my questions. My deadline is tommorrow, so I need all of…

Hi Everyone, There has been some debate between some of the trainers on my course. Do we address ourselves as PC or SC? One trainer said that we should address ourselves as PC as we are Special Police Constables (so PC's) Another said we can only address ourselves as SC's. So what's it to be then? Thanks, Anthony

Hi there, I am sure this has been asked before so forgive me but I am desperate to know the answer to this as no one in my office seems to know for sure. I work for the MET as a PCSO and just recently applied for PC (fingers crossed) but I am really interested in transferring to the BTP. I just feel like working for a different organisation now and I think it works better for me for other reasons too. What are the travel benefits for BTP Officers and PCSO's off duty? For example I live in London but travel to Manchester a lot, would I be able to do that for free if I was a BTP Officer or half way than pay the difference for example? Some people in the MET seem to think BT…

I was just wondering if all forces do the same amount of training before being attested? 5 weekends of law, 2 weekends of officer safety training and one weekend of first aid.

Hi there, if someone was given a cannabis reprimand when they were 16 (November 2010) and they wanted to enter a job in the future which required an enhanced crb check, would this show up and if so is there anyway of getting a pnc record removed, i.e by a judicial review or some other method. I mean the character given the reprimand has reformed a lot since then and I wouldn't want this reprimand to jeopardize his future. Also would he be able to travel to america under the VWP( visa waiver program) much thanks for any answers frank

Hi everyone, I ran these pictures past our mods in the Herts Lockup and they should be ok for public viewing as it was a public event and everyone else was taking pictures too. This is just to prove that Specials on duty on horseback really does happen! Edit: Resized pictures.

Hello all, In the Wales v England derby just gone, there was a meeting between officers from (otherwise Welsh) forces. Anyway, there was one gent there wearing a custodian I haven't seen before. Shorter in height, a longer 'lip' around the outside, and a spike sticking out the top. I think it had a blue crest too. Can anyone identify this? Looked the dogs. Many thanks. 06
