As Special Constables we fully expect to be called upon when police resources are likely to fall short - Football matches, Special events, Operations Etc. However now that resources are falling short on a daily basis, with all the obvious issues of Forces losing officers and MOPs feeling the pinch of the recession, are you finding that you are working more hours? In Cleveland (well in my district at least) we have never been so busy, shifts are fighting over who will have the extra resources and we're being almost begged to work most night shifts on top of the above expectations. Previously 'quite' nights seem to have gone crazy and we now have what seems like 5 Satu…

I've looked in my Blackstone books and done a search but am struggling. Lots about vagrancy in enclosed areas but nothing about this. Very simple question really - can any of you give me the offences in the following cases; a) person sleeping in a sleeping bag in a shop doorway b) person sitting silently with a cap (and small dog) in front of them hoping for donations c) as b) but has guitar and is singing (with or without small dog) cheers

Hi people, I have recently finished my first week of training with all the law intake and was issued my PNB and started noting the times and everything for my training which was fine..... and then we did our practicals and that was a whole new kettle of fish. What I would like to know is how and when do you but stuff in your PNB and what should you put into it and what is not necessary for a SC. I already know about ELBOWS and the basics but because it was the crammer week we didn't cover everything and still leaves some blank spots. Cheers guys

Firstly, how do. I've read these forums for a long time but never posted before. I know the disclaimer off by heart too lol With that in mind, I'd very much appreciate any opinions regarding the following incident which happened to me this weekend just gone. I have a lot of snapper friends who have given their views but it would be interesting to hear what others, perhaps on the other side of the fence, so to speak, might think. I've been an amateur snapper for a while. I favour street photography but will snap most things if I find them interesting. I tend to visit events like steam rallies, street parades, music events and such as they are a good source of fun st…

I have in the last 12 months heard of one or two PC's who have left main stream policing to become PCSO's. I did wonder why an officer would leave being a trained police officer and become a PCSO ?

Where I work we get lots of regular police officers calling in for their break (coffee, sandwich, etc) and they often eat in. In recent months I have noticed that more than a few of them have had white socks on (admittedly only visable when sitting down). I always thought that white socks in uniform was frowned upon and that wearing black or dark colours was fairly strictly enforced. Is this no longer the case or does no-one just bother any more?

Crazy thing happened at 5am Sunday morning! But is related to some questions I have. Myself and my girlfriend were awoken by the front door being kicked in. I went down stairs to see what had happened to find a white male crouching in my hallway breathing heavily! I was about to shout out thinking someone was about to rob my house!... but he was mumbling and groaning, clearly either injured or not very well. The guys jeans were around his ankles and he had no top on. I noticed he had sanitary towels wrapped around his left shin. I tried to ask him his name, why he was in my hall way and why his leg was in such a state! But he just mumbled... He clearly had no idea what…

In response to the thread "Shocking video" posted by 'peck06' I suggest that you watch the following footage which wasn't broadcast at the time for legal reasons; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49ZzIJygo14 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFcaFukX7W4 There is also a reconstruction. She stabbed a man to death days after being released from hospital and court before jumping from a bridge above the A50 (and surviving).
