Hey guys, new member here, just finished my first week of the 5 week training, I'm absolutely loving it, and can't wait to get out there on the beat. However, any of you guys who have recently done OST in the Met will have been shown the CCTV of 2 coppers getting they're heads kicked in by a group of D&Ds. Now, watching the footage made me feel physically sick, and made me think "That could be me in a month.". Now, I am fairly small in height 5' 6 and a half" to be precise, and I have always had low self esteem of my height, although I am perfectly happy with every other part of me, my height always manages to make me feel negative about myself. Now while it's clear that these officers were convicted (or cleared in some cases) of wrongdoing and it's right that this should be on public record, are articles like this contributing to our increasingly anti-police society? Are significant statements and Unsolicited comments both the same ? My understanding of a significant statement is that a significant statement or silence is one which appearscapable of being used in evidence against the suspect, in particular a directadmission of guilt, or failure to answer or refusal to answer a question or toanswer it satisfactorily which might give rise to an inference under Part IIIof the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1944.A significant statement can arise at any time, but a significant silence canonly arise after caution.

Hi people, I wondering who watches cop squad, traffic cops, night cops, road wars etc..? It's only because on a few different occasions I've seen slot of strange things, am I right in thinking you can use reasonable force to catch or detain a criminal? I'm not a police officer yet so I don't know. Here are two things I saw that me and my misses both think are strange. On road wars the woman I can't remember her name threw her torch at one bloke running away lol And another copper threw his asp at a bloke and missed. If he had hit him what could the crim say? I know the judge would say don't run etc...but do they train you to throw stuff? Cheers Andy

Hello all, does any one know how the police go about policing this, gathering intelligence ect? And whats the standard practice where you are, if you deal with any violent gangs? Just got curious, been watching 24 hours in A.E there was some gang related stabbings on there, the gang follow their fellow member into the hospital. And are worried the rival gang are coming to finish him off. I did find this quite shocking you had 2 rival gangs in the same hospital!!! I can almost imagine they were carrying knives from the fight they just had! One of the nurses attempts to talk the gang down, but they are quite restless. Did make me a little concerned for a number of reason…

I am a serving special, and I wear glasses. This isn't a problem at all, but I am considering getting contact lenses. I was wondering how many other police officers (regular and special) wear contact lenses instead of glasses when on duty, and what issues (if any) might come up from wearing them on duty.

I got my own locker in the station

Twice this week I have had a problem with these people trying to wash car windows( with an old rag and dirty water) . This causes a lot of problems as it a fast road and they run all over it to wash windows!! (And yes it's in Slough!) Is there any offences or can police do anything in what they're doing? And if I did have it done and drove as as the light changed is that offence?

Once again, well done to all who passed and commiserations to all who didn't make the grade this time. How is everyone getting on? I haven't done any prep so far but have borrowed the Jane's Pass For Promotion book by Gary Wynn and I have booked onto a Gary Wynn Tryline course with 11 colleagues so he is coming to our division to deliver the course. As far as venues go, I have been allocated Harperley Hall in County Durham, which is a fair old trek for me but I'll just book into a nearby travelodge or something so I'm fresh on the day. Getting nervous and it's still four months off!
