I'm aware that Specials can not become members of the Police Federation however I was wondering if Specials have access to any of the PolFed's services? I was attested a couple of weeks ago however all through training and since then the PolFed has not been mentioned. I am sure though that I have read on here in the past (but can not find anything..) that Specials can still use some of the PolFed services? Can anybody shed any light on this for me?

Can anyone tell me, like regular officers, is there a time period whereby once a special has resinged, they can re-apply in a certain amount of time without having to go through the whole recruitment process. Basically your re-appointed in post.

Just seen this video on youtube...I think it's Mainly BTP with some Met officers. Two things strike me, the guy in cuffs repeatedly asks why he's been arrested and the officer holding him only answers "I haven't arrested you mate". The a member of the public asks another officer why he's been arrested and the officer says you don't know the full story, when questioned on this the officer admits he hasn't got a clue what's happened either. Seems a bit heavy handed on the face of it with the amount of officers there but we don't know the full story I guess.

I think this has been covered on here before, but I can't find it. Is the inside of a car classed as a public place? I.e can the POA be applied? If all the windows and doors are closed I don't think it's likely that anyone of reasonable firmness would hear bad language. But then the car is just a metal box really, so when in a public place surely it is public?

Here's something I've been wondering for quite a while now. Like many of you I am sure, I've been an avid watcher of TV shows like Road Wars, Police Interceptors, Traffic Cops and so on. On a lot of occasions we see pursuits in these shows, and we the viewers get to see how the Police handle pursuits from a tactical perspective. Whilst this is quite entertaining for those of us within the police family, it concerns me that millions of viewers get to see what they need to do in order for a pursuit to get abandoned due to it being too dangerous. Just a thing that was playing on my mind. I'm not a big fan of mobile patrol and spend the majority of my time either on shanks' pony or doing a mini Le Mans tour round my NPU. My newest venture is maybe via Train (Several stations in the area) back and to. What is your view on a member of HO treading on BTP's 'patch' (I use that term lightly) Is it right?

Hi guys. Ive recently started as a volunteer community first responder. Long story short, I cant afford to take 3 weeks of work to take the IHCD blue light driving course so no blue lights on my car. My questions is what is the legal status of using rear facing red lights AT THE SCENE (i.e. NOT driving to) of an RTC? I live in a very very rural area, with winding country roads and very few are lit. I use my own car with my own insurance at my own expense and Im trying to be as safe as I possible can. Looking at the law, techinically amber lights would be illegal, but cant find any clear definition on rear facing reds. Ive seen breakdown vehicles using them. Any thoughts …

I was wondering how often people use the S32 PACE power to search after an arrest? The law states that a constable must have a reasonable belief that the person may have on them items which could cause a danger to themselves or the officer, an implement to escape or evidence of the offence. From what I've read it seems quite common for officers to search almost everybody, as for example most people carry keys or possibly a lighter; both of which could be dangerous to somebody. Any opinions?

A person is either disqualified by a court from driving or they are not. The offence is quite clearly complete if said person drives. If you have numerous police witnesses speaking to a disqualified driver driving then why do they need to be interviewed? I saw this on TV the other night and was bemused as to why anyone wastes their time with interviews. In Scotland there is no requirement for this as the offence is complete - end of.
