My force area still goes with the traditional white shirt, black tie, traditional helmet etc. I know many forces have now adopted more modern uniform, i was wondering what people liked best? Do members of the public care as long as they get a good service?

Has this happened to you? You're on duty and you come across a friend , member of family or even a college , school , uni or work colleague whilst on duty and have to fine , caution or worse... Take them in! Give your stories and in such situations can you pass the "honours" onto your other fellow officer with you if possible and hide lol

Good morning all I have been warned for court (Magistrates) in the not-too-distant future for an arrest I made some months ago for a traffic offence. Obviously I have no intention of going into any detail on a public forum :new_shhh: Having never set foot in a court in my life, I was after some general advice as I am just a tad nervous! I have been told to arrive no later than 0945 on the morning but after that I have no idea what to expect. Can anyone offer any general advice, such as who to report to, what happens, etc? All I know is to arrive in full PPE with my pocket note book. Thanks in advance! Dave --- Apologies! http://www.policespe...1-court-thread/ And…

Hey Guys :new_crazy: I have a question that's been bugging me all week :new_boxing: , if a police officer/PCSO press there panic button it then sends out a single to everyone else on that frequency (not going to get into that much detail) but if that was to happen then can PCSO respond to a PC in distress? (if they are just around corner) I would say say as the PC in most cases would just want a spare set of hands to help out or is it against H&S for them to respond as they have no PPE ? I know its one them "stupid" questions but I just wanted to clarify something Thanks

This just interests me. I don't think it's anything Operational that could have an affect on how we run... It just interests me how people call up on PR. For example there's the correct way, the adopted way and the wrong way. I call up something like.... T201 control.... Or T201 enquiries. So, how do you do it..

Hola :new_shades: This going seem like me giving you guys a lesson in policing but I am not, there are way more experienced officers out there that do there job really well. Okay, today I was at my local park playing football when I noticed a group youths 16-18 sat at this "shelter" behind football pitch. I knew these lads where up to no good :new_eyebrow: , so I kept an eye on them and heaven be hold they where smoking a spliff. :new_thmbdn2: At that moment alarm bells started ringing I didn't say or get involved as there was about 6-8 of them and they where "large" guys that didn't look very friendly . I just let the matter go but kept an eye on them to see if they w…

So the other day I found myself in a briefing. Hearing from Silver that I was part of a PSU I looked frantically round the room to the PC that I had been paired with for that day. Our eyes met. Unfortunately no telepathy occurred and so I nodded furiously and wrote my callsign into my PNB. As I climbed into the carrier, I eyed my van mates' black holdalls carrying their L2 gear. "You public ordered trained mate?" a PC said to me, wearing an Arnold baton and a flatcap a guardsman would envy. "...erm...I am a brand new special" Such a horrible feeling. Makes me wish my force DID let specials do L2 training! In the end I completed the event, my PSU didn't need to kit u…

Obviously i understand the - most people who have a dim view on Police, are usually on the wrong side of the Police. However, looking on various websites, the Police generally have a really bad feeling among the public. Being accused of Corruption, Power hungry, Not knowing the law, bending the rules to suit ourselves, covering up and protecting ourselves. One person even went so bold as to say "We're all people who got bullied at school and this is our way of getting revenge". I'm not ignorant enough to say that all Police are saints, of course that isn't the truth, but we all seem to be tarred with the same brush. And to Quote: "My experiences with Police are very s…

I realise that we, in scotland, often view with favour that our fed "likes us" and that we are allowed to join; So i when i stumbled upon the Fed's response to the draft version of The Police (Special Constables) (Scotland) Regulations 2008 before it came into force, i couldn't help but find it very interesting. Specifically these 2 tidbits (off-duty powers and uniform) which, understandably, were knocked back by the government; http://www.scotland....569/0024278.pdf Just wondering what everyone's thoughts where? do we, in scotland, view the fed through rose tinted glasses... Are their views really that different from pol fed E&W? Given the huge strides made…
