After a discussion with someone, I was wondering what people thought of individual police forces websites. Whose is the best for information, ease of use, look and feel? Do you think forces need to invest more in websites or are they no longer a relevant need due to other social networks Also which one is the worst? Discuss

Hi All, I'm trying to find a thread which had an interesting post about the stages some go through mentally as a police officer in their career. It was broken down into something like: YEars 1 - 3 : Like a puppy dog all excited running around with a new toy years 4-6 - Settles in and with knowledge and confidence you really enjoy it Years 7-?? Can become dissilussioned.. These are just examples by the way in order to give you the jist of what I'm looking for and not exactly what I remember. I'm using the search function but am having trouble finding it. Can anyone help with this? Cheers B.M.

Hi All. This is probably a question for the supervisors out there. I am looking at creating an online calendar when we can place events etc that our happening our district that specials can look at whilst at home. It needs to be free and a simple web link that doesn't require a logon to view the calendar (Like gmail does) People will need to be able to make changes when they view the calendar to add in holidays etc. Can anyone think of a service out there? I work in IT as my day job but cannot find anything!

Hey Guys and Gals, I was wondering if any other forces use the NCALT online E-learning system and if so what do you think of it? I am currently trying to do my First Aid freshers from my home PC and my god its pants, it crashes every 2 minutes and some of the coarse won't even launch.I've tried to use NCALT at the Nick to but it seems to be a repeating problems what ever PC I am using :new_no: Having completed 2 out of 5 sections and none of them are showing as complete :-S Interested in hearing anyone else views on this.....

Over the past 15 years we have seen a large increase in the number of armed police officers deployed on the streets of every UK Police force area. Sadly during the same period we have seen a steady increase in the number of innocent members of the public (unarmed) being shot and killed by the police. I appreciate there being a need for armed police in certain circumstances, but I am worried by the number of cases of people being shot. Should there be tougher rules on armed police ? Do the rules of engagement need to be changed to avoid civilian deaths, part of the reason for bringing this topic up is the death last year Mark Duggan who was unarmed and lead to civil un…

How much break entitlement are given to specials in a shift? Do you have to do x amount of hours in a shift before you can incur a break?

...is back. Featuring Lancashire this week, today it showed policing the night time economy in Preston.Specials were shown as part of the team, doing the job, and came across well, as team members .

During the current recruitment freeze experienced by many forces I'm sure many people have, like my self, joined the specials as a way in. I'm currently with Kent and wondering how the move on up to regular PC works when the vacancies become available? I know for example Kent run a condensed Special to PC corse, however what is less clear is the need to re-sit the assessment centre? or re-do medical/fitness? or is it all based on weather you have achieved IPS or not? Even if their isn't a specific answer for Kent how dose it work elsewhere? anyway first post, happy to be here, look forward to the replies. cheers.

Okay now I know the best form of Off Duty Involvment is keeping a distance and calling it in (as most on ps.com say) and the "No PPE Brigade" will say its dangerous and probably refuse to answer my question but Is there any problem carrying and using your handcuffs off duty if need be. After all there might be that one time where you have to get stuck in before uniform units turn up. Is it illegal / bad practice / you wouldn't get away with it? Etc..... Or is it fine?

Hey people, Was just wondering that should the opportunity ever come up for a Specials driving test (of course this relies on if my medical and vetting comes back clear for me and I get through training) do you need to already hold a full UK driving licence or is a provisional good enough providing you're in the car with an experienced driver like before you take a civilian driving test? Haven't really found anything that says much about it yet so apologies in advance if this has already been posted somewhere where I haven't seen it. Thanks
