Sometimes I think that we don't give ourselves enough credit for what we do....here's a little reminder

Hi Can forum members please list their current course available for driving offences and there cost. I understand they vary greatly. Currently speed awareness is £85 in my county. And two others courses are not on offer for £85 and £90, for endorseable and non endorseable.

Hi there Does your CID "qualification" expire? For example, if you became a substantive DC, but then went to a uniform role, is there an amount of time after which you are no longer a detective and have to complete the course again? Or could you become a DC, go to uniform and then return to CID 15 years later for example?

Olympic torch security team tackle cyclist The Olympic torch security team has tackled a young cyclist during the relay's Suffolk leg. The Metropolitan Police told the BBC: "A male on a pedal cycle attempted to enter the security bubble around the torchbearer. The Met's torch security team prevented him from gaining access to the torchbearer and the male fell off his bike. He immediately got back on his bike and left." Had a very brief search for an existing thread but couldn't see one, feel free to point it out if there is one. Throughout training I've seen a lot of different people of all ages and backgrounds. Some with good jobs, some with less so. So, why did you join?

Does anyone have any good resources / book recommendations for this. I've got my Hughes guide for traffic law and I'm looking for something similar. Basically it's to build knowledge and learn new legislation that I've never experienced, would be helpful for when I go for my regulars interview "yes it's something I haven't had to use yet but you never know what's round the corner and I thought I would be proactive and try and have the best knowledge to help me do the job to my best" etc. I know there's legislation.gov but that's a dull dull website

Just out of interest, should Winsor become implemented in full and privatisation continue it's merciless creep into the Police Service, I wonder if any PCs have given any thought to life outside the job; be it after resigning, redundancy, A19 or retirement? And how to make yourself that little bit more appealing in the private sector. The armed forces were already due to provide some 13,500 personnel to help at the Games, with more available as a contingency plan. Whats the last job you went to where you got a real sense of satisfaction from it? Mine was yesterday when i was asked to visit some farms and show a police presence. The farmers were generally surprised to see a copper without reporting a crime, and the feedback was very positive. :new_yes:

I'm curious as to how much people put on Facebook about their specials work. I myself think that I will put very minimal about it out there and even that may be very vague as I don't want lots of people knowing I'm a special. How about you guys and girls?
