Just a quick post to thank you all for all your help and advice and knowledge in the past three years. I've learned so much off of you guys, and I've still got a long way to go, but you guys have definately made me feel more confident than I would be without this site. To all new members (and lurkers)- this website is a fantastic resource. Without it i'm not entirely sure i'd be where I am today (although if I get injured i'm blaming David ;D). Use it wisely, look at all sides of the (frequent) debates, and take things with a pinch of salt. So, thank you all very much, and I'll see you around the site. Have a good one.

Each Government announces in the annual Queens Speech new laws and legislation which seem to increase each year. I have two questions: How many laws are there in the UK with Criminal Sanctions ? What is the most obscure criminal offence on statute ?

I was privileged to attend Wednesday night’s dress rehearsal for the Olympics Opening Ceremony courtesy of my daughter, who is one of the dancers. I got the feeling that 99.9% of those who attended last night and also on Monday have vowed to “Save The Surprise” and reveal no details of the Opening Ceremony to anyone else. Those few who have, for example on Twitter, have generally been harangued for doing so. It is therefore a very great shame to see that someone who was able to see the Opening Ceremony, presumably as they were there in an official capacity, not be able to “Save The Surprise”. This is a quote from Metro, a US publication, and it is accompanied by a few p…

There have been almost 250 arrests made by police working on Olympics security. The arrests have been made for a total of 29 different alleged offences ranging from assault, robbery and a bomb hoax to swimming in the Thames. The most common offence was ticket touting, for which 139 people have been arrested.#The new figures do not include the 182 arrests made during a mass bike ride on the night of the opening ceremony. The Olympic Games have been one of the biggest security operations in the UK's history. Thousands of armed forces personnel stepped in to help police after private firm G4S was unable to deliver the security guards it had promised. The new statistics …

This new legislation is apparently Law from September the 1st. Having dealt with the aggravation of squatters many times I think this is long over due. http://www.legislati...ion/144/enacted 144Offence of squatting in a residential building (1) A person commits an offence if— (a) the person is in a residential building as a trespasser having entered it as a trespasser, (b) the person knows or ought to know that he or she is a trespasser, and © the person is living in the building or intends to live there for any period. (2) The offence is not committed by a person holding over after the end of a lease or licence (even if the person leaves and re-enters the b…

So to cut a long story short I'm a special of about 10 months. This sounds like I should be experienced but in fact, have done very little due to quiet shifts, an huge area to cover (rural BTP officer) with low crime rates, and on my part, not as many shifts as I would have liked to do. About 4 hours ago I did my first report. It was awful, my PNB was all over the place, my questions were terrible, I obviously looked like I hadn't a clue what I was doing. I missed vital entrys in my PNB and had to come back to them.. I mean really basic stuff, I cautioned her, but forgot to write that down and so had to add it to the end of the PNB entry. Apart from the obvious need for …
