I was reading a Police newspaper article which talked about a request made by Las Vegas PD to Humberside Police for an Officer to go to an address in Hull for witness statement to be taken in regards to murder that took place in Las Vegas, it appears the witness was a Briton on holiday over there. My first question was can an MG11 that has been taken from a UK witness regarding an offence abroad be used in Court overseas? Could that witness be called to Court in Las Vegas!? Could that Officer who took the statement be called aswell?

So I was reading the thread in the Met forum about how BHH is one of the horseman of the Apocalypse and how it's all going to end when his model becomes reality, but I'm not entirely sure what his model was or what happened at Merseyside. Can anyone give me a history lesson?

I was wondering... If you have been personally prosecuted at court for an offence (say speeding/using mobile phone whilst driving etc), can this cause problems or create implications if you bring someone to book for the same offence in your official capacity at work?

Hi all, I am currently going through the recruitment process and have got a big problem at the moment. The problem is that my transport manager is saying that being a Special Constable interferes with my day job as although its voluntary work, its still technically classed as work. I have found this following information but i dont know how old it is. What Counts as Working Time? MAIN POINTS Working time is not attendance or shift time. It does not include travelling between home and work (unless you are travelling to a place other than you own depot), breaks, periods of availability, evening classes or day release courses. Working time includes job-related train…

It is really interesting to see in the Capital and at other Olympic Venues the variety of police from all over the UK working together on Mutual Aid Operations to keep the public safe. The variety of uniform is really different across the country all being seen together.

When I started as a special I thought I'd be attached at the hip with who ever I'm paired with but that hasn't been the case, I have been on my own taking statements and checking suspects or an area search, which is great. However the one time i went out with a special Sgt, he wouldn't let me out of his sight. Is there a distance/explanation as to how far non-independent specials can be from who ever is supervising them?

Can someone tell me where i can get the latest version. I have a version dated May 2002 but it still says about only having powers in the home force and neighbouring force etc. A speedy response would be appreciated. Thank you :new_please:

Please message me if your force has developed a good way of mapping a Special's employment, and any other skills they feel may be useful. This is one of the areas on the national strategy plan on a page. We know not all forces are very good at mapping our external skills. Thanks Mike

But i keep coming up at a loose end as what to do regarding getting the tattoo..i.e who to inform? does it have to be approved? do i get a design then send it in? any help please!!

Hello again folks, so abit more messing around on 4OD and i've found yet more unusual stuff-i do get out, but everyone likes some down time. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/superheroes-of-suburbia/ I was watching this program and came quite quickely to the conclusion that atleast 2 of the 'superheros' are committing offences (offensive weapons in a public place) and the ninja guy looks to be quite happy to conduct various Public order offences. Has any forum member encounters such 'superheros' on duty? tooled up? and what was the outcome, as to be honest, if i saw the ninja guy, i'd be calling in taser or even a AFV to stop search him, given the weapons he showed he…

I was trawling through some old info on medals being awarded to Police Forces. I noticed a Special Constable was awarded the Queens Gallantry Medal. Special Constable Robert Patrick Bradshaw of Leicestershire Constabulary, on the 27th July 1976. After a gas explosion in Leicester, SC Bradshaw entered a burning building and rescued a gas official. Despite Bradshaw being severely burned about the face, neck and arms after he pulled the individual out of the premises, Bradshaw continued to direct traffic away from area until the Fire Brigade arrived. Anyone know of any other SC's that have been awarded similar decorations?

I have just made IPS so will be completing a foot patrol round town by myself for the first time on my next shift to get used to it. Does anyone have any tips? I'm guessing I'll get to engage with people more which should boost my people skills.

Getting sick and tired of these idiots eh? The BTP bobby could've handled it better in my opinion. Freeman: "Have I committed a crime?" BTP Officer: "No you haven’t.." What?! YES he has! He's committed an offence both under the Railway Byelaws (Byelaw 18) and of course, Regulations of Railways Act 1889. Gah, then to top it all the Revenue Inspector explains what the relevant legislation is - not acceptable in my opinion, this is bread and butter stuff for BTP Officers - even probationers. I would've given him two or three chances to both show me a ticket or provide his name and address, t…
