A policeman entered into the Olympic spirit by entertaining crowds along the torch relay route with some impressive dance moves. It happened as the Olympic Torch made its way through Sevenoaks, Kent, on day 63 of the nationwide relay. Swept along by the carnival atmosphere, the unidentified policeman decided to provide the crowd with some entertainment as they waited for the torch. His routine began with some robotic dance moves before he began to hop around on one leg. Encouraged by the reaction from the crowd, the officer attempted some break-dancing before finishing with an energetic hip thrust. The moment was captured by photographers and on a mobile phone video …

So, what is "professional" to you in how you work? For example: is following the rules to the letter more professional than actually getting the job done is a quick, cost-effective way but breaking a few rules? Or how you speak to people (mate, sire, buddy, fella, etc...) This has just got me wondering after dealing with a difficult prisoner.

Hey all, I know you're only required to do minimum 4 hours a week, I'm sure most do a lot more, I'm wandering how you all fit in your shifts along with your day to day job? What hours do you work and what hours do you do for shifts? I work 7-3:30 not sure what shifts I will do as of yet (if I get in)

Hi all - I was a special for almost 6 yrs until October last year when work commitments forced me to leave Well we all know that hindsight is a wonderful thing and I should have asked for a few months off instead as things are now a lot easier and i'm ready to go back. The process is proving to be a lot lengthier than I imagined as I thought with me already having all the checks and training it would have been straight forward. Has anyone been through a similar experience and if so were there any problems and how long did it take? Thanks

You can look at this in two ways. Either blame the dog handler, or the passer by. I personally wouldn't walk past a barking police dog like that, so I think the blame lies with the member of the public. Similarly, the Inspector who tries to speak to the handler after that makes life hard for him. Either way, if I were a dog handler I would get fed up with people's lack of awareness around the dog.

The 2012 logo has come in for much justified criticism since it was unveiled. Given some of the beauties that were submitted at the time (some from art students and schoolchildren, amateurs and therefore free) and even after when the current abomination was chosen, I think nearly everyone was surprised at the logo that was actually selected. However, this has been doing the rounds and I'm surprised it's not been picked up on yet... http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/artblog/2007/jun/05/howlisasimpsontooktheolym

Just curious.. I want to join in the hope of becoming a regular police officer.. Policing has always appealed to me. I'm not quite sure why but I just love the idea of stopping criminals from getting away with it!

there are multiple pics of them posing around the site (including even in bedrooms!), but i get "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." when i try and post them with the story, so you'll have to go to the mirror site for them!

... so are you feeling the Olympic buzz yet? I am in two minds; I think it will be great, I would like to know what I am doing however! Now that you can see London changing with the lanes going in the flags being put up and Olympic banners around the place is now looking the part.

In custody. Removing clothing from a prisoner about to go in a safe suit (a suit to prevent self harm). Do you remove ALL clothing? It seems logical due to strangulation risk if leaving any clothing with prisoner.
