Hi All I am carrying out a study into PND and other associated penalty notices. One thing I keep coming across with the Drunk and Disorderly offence is the statement that a police officer is considered an expert witness. Does anyone know where this comes from? I'm struggling to find case law on the issue and can't find it in statute either. Cheers Adam

Hi - forgive the stupid question - When you place someone in handcuffs despite them not actually being under arrest (assuming you have a valid reason), what legislation is giving you the power to do so? Would this come from S3 Criminal Law Act?

One of my pet hates is vehicles parked at junctions. There's a pub at the end of my road, and in the evening taxis park outside, blocking the view from the junction. Theres also a chippy opposite and I've seen HGVs parked at the junction while the driver goes in! It's only a minor junction, but due to the layout and proximity of other junctions and a pelican crossing, it can at times cause chaos. I happened to be passing whilst on duty last week and took great pleasure in telling a taxi to move :D Am I correct in saying it is an offence under s22 RTA? I went on a few dates with a girl which ended quite badly. Beforehand, she contacted my ex via email, and kept on at her, asking why we were still friends. I ended things. This girl then started pestering me with numerous phone calls. She emailed my ex again and my ex reported her to the police last night, and they told her to tell the girl who was emailing to stop sending the emails, and if she receives any more then my ex needs to contact the police again, and they would then trace the address because the email should be linked to online shopping accounts etc. My ex said if she emails her again then she needs to contact the police again and she will get done for harassm…

Hi If I have been commited of fraud in the past, can I be used as a police witness

Hi I made a report against a sexual attack but was persuaded to drop the charges by the police. I don't know if this was because they didn't believe me or didn't have any evidence. Basically the police officer said were you willing to go to court and for your whole family to know etc. To be honest I think I did the right thing because I couldn't have bared to go to court and drag my family into it. This was about 8 years ago. Since that time I have gotten married and have a new life but did not tell my husband about the attack. Hi Guys n Gals, I am recently getting into archery and bow like weapon collecting/using. I have read everywhere the rules and regs but all I can seem to pull up is just the age restrictions and buy n sell business. I was wondering whether anyone could help me as I would like to target practice in a more widely open space than my garden and was considering an open wooded area, purely target practice as I know game hunting with a bow is very illegal, so the question is. If I am to go to a woods with a bow/crossbow and police happen to turn up, am I breaking any laws? Thanks to anyone who can help me.

What power would someone use if they were to take someone off a tube if they were found drinking alcohol?

I know it is not a legal advice centre, so purely wondering if anyone can enlighten me as I can't find anything on google other than Firearms Acts (NFA) constantly coming up. If someone has a NFA for criminal damage and no charge, is there a reason this would show up on a Doctors report? note: this is not for myself!

A twenty year old male is arrested for breach of section 27 failing to disperse, said male has never been arrested before so has no previous convictions. He was very drunk when told to leave the area and so probably couldn't understand it, wasn't violent to anyone and didn't swear etc. He spent the night in the cells and now has to attend a court date. What can he expect when he goes to court? Will the judge take into account the above things? Will he recieve a criminal record affecting things he wishes to do in the future?

Is it legal in the UK (England) to replace the side mirrors of a car with camera's mounted on the doors which then relay the live image to a screen on the dashboard? Thanks

Other than obstruction and RTA offences, theres got to be a more serious offence of trying to pass off someone else's documents as your own during a vehicle stop, right? Not talking forgery/fraud here....any ideas people? or am i being too hopeful...

I was trying to type a reply on the post about loss of respect for police, but by the time I finished typing, it was locked ! I think it needed a bit more time to get some reasoning across to the guy, after all a good discussion is going to be uncomfortable for both sides, then eventually (hopefully) sort itself out ! I tried to message the moderator but it wouldn't let me, for some reason.

Just a quick question. Car stopped in an area known for prostitutes, speak with the driver and do PNC which shows previous for solicitation. ( no evidence in this incident to arrest for solicitation ) Is there a power to search this guy? Thanks
