A couple nights ago I was arrested for wasting police time, using threatening words to cause alarm or distress and racially aggravated harassment. I am a currently-serving PCSO and I was having a discussion in the parade room with my colleagues about searches. Whilst in training I was told that asking someone, for example: "what's in the bag?" whilst confiscating alcohol from minors is technically conducting an illegal search (as PCSO's do not have the power to search with the exception of the Terrorism Act 2000). Is this correct? Others were supporting this statement, whilst some other colleagues flat-out denied that this was a search. Can anyone clarify this for me? cheers!

So I saw a bloke a while ago popping a fantastic wheelie. Unfortunately it was on the public highway. I understand this comes under the heading of "not being in proper control" but what is the offence specifically and is it something we can ticket for or is it straight to summons?

Hello, I am taking somebody to the small claims court and I have just received their defense statement. (As an aside to contesting my claim) they claim to have contacted the police a few months ago and have a crime reference number, which they do not supply. They state they did this because of the number of times that I called (which was far less than they state) and my threatening tone. Can anyone point me towards any newish case law around s.18s and the definition of "occupy or control"? I asked for two s.18s yesterday and I was quizzed a lot more than usual as to whether the person "occupied or controlled" as opposed to was just "linked to". This one popped in my head earlier while sitting in my friends car and he happens to have one of these fancy screen-pop out - touch-to-operate head units. What is the law on using these as you drive? I understand they could be quite distracting while driving, you use them to change radio station/CD all the same things you would use the buttons on a standard head unit for except it is a backlit touch screen. This has been against the law for a long time now yet people still commit it... I was driving home from work today along the A14, The section that breaks into 3 lanes, In the middle lane driving along, and I notice a mini coming along on the outside lane rather fast, probably doing between 85-90MPH, and the lady driving it was having a conversation on her phone whilst holding it against her ear, not only is it dangerous at slow speeds but the risk of causing a collision and the likelihoods of it being more serious are raised at higher speeds, I believe the punishment is a Fixed Penalty Notice (correct?), people obviously don't seem bothered about it as they continue to …

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me. I had a visit today from 2 police officers who issued me with a notice of harassment (cant remember the number of it) because of a pretty harmless comment on Facebook that was then used by a family member to make comments about ex husband who has then contacted the police. Whilst they did explain it was just held locally and wouldnt not be a criminal record I am now VERY worried about whether this will show on a CRB check as I am just about at the end of teacher training and applying for positions and this could jeapordise my whole career. My Kit Car is close to being completed (6 years), and I have applied for IVA in a few weeks time. There are a few small jobs to be completed such as headlamp alignment final brake bias adjustment etc.+ a full check-over by other than me, which I think wise. Unfortunately some VOSA garages do not allow adjustments during test - it depends on who you have on the day! The problem is that I don't have the facilities for such work, but my local (2 miles away) garage does as an MOT centre. Just a quick question that regarding fog lights on new cars that occurred to me the other day. Now I know fog lights should only be used when visibility is seriously reduced (although people seem to insist on driving with them on at night), but what about the new cars (mainly German) that turn them on automatically below certain speeds and when they're going round corners (sold as cornering lights when only one lamp is light). (confirmed by contacting the friend) Incident three - Sending flowers online to the workplace, signed with "?" and then sending a valentines day card. All of the above incidents aren't wanted or requested What offences are committed? Can harassment be brought into with without a suspect? Also - can Stalking be committed without harassment?
