Few weeks ago when I was at work Police kicked in my front door (no one was at home at this time) and seized my laptop and few mobile phones that I have had at home. Hi. I am currently working in the area of special needs, taking care of kids and young adults with mental and physical handicaps. I recently had an interview for contract work, and wowed them on the interview. I disclosed the fact that I had a 'hit' on my C.R.B for criminal damage (tagging a window directly opposite a police station aged 15, more than ten years ago now) They told me as it wasn't related to theft drugs or violence, it shouldn't matter. Today I received a phonecall saying, even though I impressed them, they will not be willing to take me on because of the my crb hit. Anyway, my sister has accused me of stealing her debit card and taking money out of the bank on a regular basis for myself. Am I correct in saying going through a red light at an "ordinary junction" is an offense under S36 RTA1988? Unless its a Pelican or Puffin, which is a separate offense under S23 ZP&P Regs 1997? Is that right......?

Hi all, I am under the impression that a sec 59 notice on a vehicle lasts for 12 months. I am being advised by a colleague that this is not the case and it is only applicable to the vehicle if the use is repeated on the same occasion (same day). I always thought you needed careless-inconsiderate / off road riding and likely to cause harrasment, alarm and distress. Then the warning was for 12 months to rider and vehicle. Any thoughts? Paul

Hi, Apologies in advance, I am a newbie and have recently gone independent. I was just wondering if there is an easy way to remember which offences you need to report someone on summons for when you have disposed of them with a ticket etc. EG - When you give someone a producer, you tell them if they dont comply within 7 days then they will be reported on summons for it, however I have heard from some colleagues that when you give tickets out for theft etc, you dont report them on summons at the end of it, you tell them that if they fail to pay within 28 days or elect to go to court then the fine will go up and a warrant may be issued for a non payment of fines. Does anyone know why the national limit for HGV's is 56mph on motorways etc. is 56 the best speed in terms of fuel economy or is it a safety issue?

I've just read it is illegal to cycle on the pavement...I had no idea! How much is a fixed penalty for this? I'm likely to be cycling to work in the next week or so and I'd contemplated doing it, but I suppose not now my town has a one way system that goes up a big hill and I was going to go the wrong way on the pavement because it's not as steep I can always push I guess Also it's not illegal if you don't wear a cycle helmet is it?

Really confused. I was driving on the M6 today in the far right overtaking lane. My lane was coming to a stop and others were still moving.. I have always known it is not illegal to undertake - it isn't but how you do it can be ? So I am now at about 30MPH with other lanes going faster, HUGE gaps next to me behind and infront in all lanes, probably about 15 mtrs behind and infront of me were completely clear in other lanes. Can someone help me with to understand something. You can caution anyone without arresting them, and can caution them without knowing their name or address? Issuing a PND to someone who dropped litter, would you give the caution out and then get details? Then if they give the details explain they are not under arrest and free to leave. If they refuse arrest them to allow identification hopefully being able to PND them once they have coughed up their details and dearrest them at the station.

A friend of mine might be in a bit of bother, so any advice would be welcomed. Person A is in a nightclub, Person B approaches a few people in the club and tries to provoke fights (Person B does have a history of this and is known to the Police). Person B then picks on Person A and headbutts him, Person A retalliates with a flurry of punches, both get ejected.
