How long following arrest and caution/conviction is evidence of the crime held, i.e witness statements , interview tapes etc? Indefinately or for a fixed amount of time?

Is eating or drinking when driving an offence? If so, what does it come under and what are the consequences. I do it all the time.

I know this is a scary subject to start, but is saying a racist word against the law. Me and a friend (who studies law thats how all this come about) are disagreeing on the matter,i will not say who thinks what but is it against the law to say a racist word??? Thanks

I am a private hire driver in london and have a question for you. As you may be aware, private bailif companie's have ANPR vehciles for detecting unpaid parking tickets. In the west end of london the baillifs work with the police at roadside checks. What I would like to know is if a police officer stops me because the bailifs ANPR vehcile flags me, do I have to talk to the bailifs. I was under the impression that I only have to give my details/talk to; police officers, inland revenue, VOSA. Would it be legal for me to drive off without talking to the baillifs. Heres a question for you all..... A named offender throws 15 eggs at a property, there are witnesses willing to give statements, one of the children inside the address that has been targeted is now scared to go into the kitchen. There is not actually any damage to property but a great mess. what action can be taken. Is it vandalism, harrassment, sec 5???? Thanks

Hi, can anyone offer any advice here? I have just received an NIP through the post relating to an alleged speeding offence committed on 29th November. It states that records show I either owned the car or that I have been named as the driver at the time said alleged offence took place. The vehicle in question belongs to a motor dealer who had lent me the car while the vehicle I bought from them was being repaired, however I didn't have this car on the date of the offence (I actually had the car from 26th October until 26th November). Customer of mine had an employee commit four counts of fraud - fraudulently refunded onto his own credit card on four seperate occasions, he is also suspected of assisting others to obtain goods fraudulently (paid by credit card then refunded) and good CCTV evidence exists. My customer, the victim, has been informed that the Custody Sergeant has decided that a 'Police Caution' will be given for the fraudulent personal refunds and no further action taken in the case of the assisting others to fraudulently obtain goods (several £k). Can the Custody Sergeant really decide on the course of action like this - my customer is horrified!

Simple one for you all. . . If you were to get assaulted off duty and the other person didnt know you were an officer and you hadnt identified yourslf as one would the offender be charged with assualt on police or common assault. Im assuming the latter as you were not executing your duty ???

Hi, Quick question to settle an argument in the office: Married couple split up, woman moves out to live with her Latino lover Jose, Keeps going back into the house whilst the chap is at work (without his consent) to get property that is hers and also property that is shared. Can he legally change the locks? Obviously we can go into the argument about stealing property that isn't fully hers but just wondering about the locks.
