Please advise when arresting a drunk, abusive person who is drunk and disorderly why some custody sgts prefer the arrest to be Section 5poa rather than for being D & D. If however the person is D & I then would it be common sence to transport the DP to A & E for nursing staff to assess and then when the person has "come to" he could be reported for summons?

So, not letting your knowledge of the law and the fact that capital punishment breaches UK human rights laws affect your decision, do you each, as indivuduals, want the United Kingdom to bring back Capital Punishment? (The Death Penalty) I have to say 'YES' I feel that if you are selfish enough to consciously choose to take away someone's life, to ruin somebody's life, and their friends and their families lives, then why do you deserve to live? Why do you get to, in effect, have an advantage over the person you killed? Prison is not punishment enough for any act of murder.

I am writing as a last resort really, my husband has worked really hard for years to provide a lovely home for us and we moved here 2 years ago. In a short period of time we have been torn apart by constant and tireless racing by sports motorbikes on a nearby road. If it's dry, they are out every day, doing speeds that are utterly appalling through a residential area. 144mph recorded last week on video, and the village have put together some footage from a recent a Sunday with radar speeds that without exaggeration has to be seen to be believed. I wish I could post the link so you could see (and hear!) what's going on, but it's just not safe to do so. The local police h…

I've just posted this in the Scenario City bit, but realised it's probably better off here. Sorry for double posting, anyway: This isn't so much a 'what if' as a 'advice needed' scenario. A family (lets call them the Smiths) have recently moved onto a housing estate, and have had non-stop problems with their neighbours dogs. The dogs have been breaking into the families garden, leaving 'deposits' all over it, and acting agressivley towards the Smith children. The Smiths have reported this to the housing organisation, and a housing officer visited yesterday. The HO let slip to the dog owning family (lets call them the Slum family) that it was Mrs Smith who had complai…

I hope this is the appropriate section! As someone with a healthy interest in criminology I thought I'd throw open an old case from the States for comment. Feel free to add your own notorious cases past and present for a bit of lamp-swinging. To start off, I'll open the thread with the case of America's first female serial killer (as she was termed), Aileen Wuornos. There has been much debate over the years about what caused her to commit the crimes she was executed for and what her true motives were. I am still inclined to believe she was mentally unstable but whether or not this was evident before her arrest or resulting from over a decade on Death Row, I couldn'…

Hello everyone, hope everyone has had a good day so far My question or query is: My boss got pulled over by a police officer recently because her number plate is somehow illegal. the plate itself is standard size with standard font but she has a little picture on the left hand side (when facing it) which is about the height of the plate and about 3-4 inches width so not anything massive (picture of horse) think she said she got the plates from demonplates, anyways the policeman said they were illegal due to the picture and no manufacturer on the bottom under the reg mark if that makes sense. he said no picture is allowed and if she wasnt to remove them fast he would g…

Hello, my name is Patricia. I'm sorry but I'm not a police officer but a simple translator. However, I would like to have some advice about domestic violence as my ex has been pestering me for over 3 weeks after our separation. I hope I won't offend any members of this forum by my request. This is serious. I'm a bit worried before going to Basingstoke police station this morning to make a report as advised. Thanks Patricia

Hello fine forum fiends! As advised, I'm popping this query in here to mull over some thoughts if you'll indulge me. Although mainly an Internet problem, I have met the perportrator and had him guesting here on two occasions. We had a fleeting "relationship" which is rare for me but we were remote friends for some months - a friendship conducted on IM, the phone and on a gaming forum we both frequent (only I have ceased to post on any site he is affiliated with presently). I'm not one for IM and all that jazz usually, nor am I a telephone addict but prior to moving home in December last year, my father became very suddenly ill. Sadly, eight weeks on he passsed away i…

This is a question that I’ve been wondering for a while. What do flashing green beacons mean on a doctors emergency vehicle. What powers do they have to break the speed limit, traffic regulations (if any). And what is our obligation to these vehicles when we are on the road?

A few weeks ago my nephew was arrested after serious allegations made by ex girlfriend. He'd never been arrested before and knows nothing about legal/police procedures. He was told the interview would take a couple of hours. He knew he had not done anything wrong, so "happily" went to police station to be interviewed. He declined legal advice, or even to make a call. Unfortunately, he was in a lot longer than he thought, before interview, and came home totally traumatised! (due to seriousness of allegations)He cannot really remember what was said exactly - but he was released on Bail - due to return in 4 weeks time (has a letter giving date and time). Whilst he was detaine…

What are the guidelines on using CS or OC spray? I thought that they were brought in for the police to deal with people with weapons such as knives, baseball bats etc. but it seems they're increasingly used to deal with unarmed people. Also they are sometimes used inside buildings where they affect innocent bystanders as well. This is a particular problem in crowded venues where people can easily be hurt in the rush to get away and where doorstaff can be affected whilst they are trying to restrain the culprits.

Hi All, Can you tell me the answer to the q below? The think I need to find out is, if I tax my car online, on say the 27th of this month, and it does not arrive by the 31st, am I still able to drive on the road as I have already paid, and just waiting for it to come through, or does the tax disc have to be on the car before it is allowed on the road? Kind regards, Alex
