How many of you out there have had dealings either with people being in possession, under the influence or are known addicts? Although they have located several meth cooking factories within 20 miles of here in the last year or so, I have not yet heard any intel or had dealings with anyone who takes it. It seems that heroin and crack are still the drugs of choice around here. To All, On the morning of Thrusday the 17th of July, I was driving my Toyota Yaris and had just come off the Leatherhead Bypass which goes under the M25, and onto the large roundabout at the end which serves the east bound M25 drivers as a junction for Leatherhead and Kingston. There are two lanes on the bypass both clearly marked with the direction you are intended to drive to reach certain destinations. Advice please. What authority if any do we have to enter a property to remove drugs. If the police have been called to an address by the local authorities who are in the process of evicting a person and changing the locks and on entering the premises see drugs all over the place. The occupant of the property is not at the address and the persons whereabouts unknown.Any help or ponters would be appreciated.

Right, i messed up today But no injuries. Went around a round about, in the rain, spun my range rover and someone hit me head on. Hi, I'm having massive problems with local gangs congregating outside my house, throwing stuff at windows, giving my wife and kid grief etc, the usual stuff I guess. I don't want to hassle our local beat bobby every time it kicks off, and was wondering where I would stand legally if I move my garage's cctv so it captures their activities, and then showing appropriate footage to the police. As the camera will then be pointing to the street, does this contravene any laws re privacy? Also, would it be admissible as evidence? I don't want to waste mine and the police's time if it turns out to be pointless. Thanks.

Hey. I have a question which can probably be answered really quickly, but I can't seem to find out elsewhere. I know that you can't be a special and a magistrate, amongst other things, but are Specials (and police officers in general) eligible for jury duty? I'm sure I've heard that people with specialised knowledge of the law are often not allowed to do jury duty as they are not an 'average person' for the purposes of listening to evidence and weighing it up. Is that the case? I've always kind of wanted to do jury duty (although I know that 9 times out of 10 it's probably really dull) so I'd be interested to know if it could ever happen, or if I'm just taken off the l…

Hi all, and first of all thank you to all those who replied to my last post. you were all a great help and I now think I understand it. this is more a clarification than anything, If someone smashed a phone box window while someone was inside it and they sustained injuries from the glass smashing in on them (ie cuts etc), even though the person may not have meant to harm the person inside the phone box, would they still be guilty of this offence or would it be somthing else ? Its a hysterical woman naming one person in our household and then saying that they know how they feel and they should ring them but no mention of who they are or a number. My question is this, is ther any way we can trace the call through our phone or through our provider (Sky) or would we need to get the Police involved to get a trace?? thanks in advance Chris

When someone breaches a curfew/bail conditions under what criteria (under sec 24 P.A.C.E) do we use to arrest them? I'm quite new and can't really see why breaching a curfew necessitates an arrest. Perhaps the arrest is related to offence for which they have been bailed and curfewed because I guess the curfew is supposed to stop them committing an act and when it fails we arrest them to stop them committing the act? How do Councils get away with parking on the pavement when they are conducting those traffic surveys? And how do NCP Parking Enforcement Officers get away with parking on double yellow lines at one end of a street whilst they walk along the street ticketing cars for parking contraventions? I have seen both of these things in the last few days and it made me wonder how come it is not an offence?

Hi, just suffered a sudden downpour here that left the roads with standing puddles of water at side. As I was walking on the pavement (off-duty), I saw a car come towards me who drove into a puddle, seemingly trying to get me wet, then did a U-Turn and did the same on the other side of the road (almost touching the kerb to do so). Is there a specific offence that someone commits in doing this (as opposed to trying to cover it under S.59 S59 Police Reform Act 2002 for example)? (For the record, I did call it in on the non-emergency number of the local force who said they'd put out obs for the car).

The other night in the pub, a couple of us got into a debate about 'obstruction'. (Yeah, I know: there were girls there and everything and we were sat chatting our usual bollox. ) I don't mean physical obstruction eg. obstructing a highway, etc, but in 'obstructing a police officer in carrying out his duty'. What legislation does this come from and are there different types of obstruction? Having read some postings recently, I am a little concerned that some officers are under the misapprehension that the s.25 PACE power of arrest becomes an offence in it's own right. It does not create an offence, merely a power of arrest. I thought that I would put the definition up here for review, so that all officers can be confident when using this power, that they are doing so lawfully. Hi all. Went to see a show lastnight with girlfriend and her family. Was called Margerite, a WW2 twisted love story, very mellow dramatic, anyway, Alot of the actors were smoking in the show as part of the performance, so are they breaking the law or do they have an excemption as its a show? I watched carefully and im 99% sure they are real and not props but anyway, just wondered! Simon.
