Someone I know falsely reported a crime a few years ago. It was really an attention-seeking thing and no accusations were made against specific people. They went to the police station to give a statement, etc. but on detailed questioning they admitted they had made it up. They were issued with an official police caution for wasting police time. The question is, would they have been arrested prior to issuing the caution or not?

OOOH its been a long time since I posted anything on here!! But I am due a baby in 4 weeks time and I was wondering what the laws are surrounding breastfeeding in public?? As far as Im aware it is actually illegal??? But I was wondering how many officers would approach a female breastfeeding and ask her to stop!!! Thanks!!

can you realy take a MOPs car in order to carry out you job? is this legal? would you? i saw this on real hustle and they said its rare that it happens but is is it legal to take someones car to carry out your job?

hi i havnt written on here for ages. but have returned as I need some help but I have no idea what to do about getting it. Hello all, bit of an obvious one here before I cause all sorts of trouble. The person living in the same block as me appears to have a large amount of cannabis on his posetion. He isn't secret about this, seen him hanging out of the window twice in 3 days with a rather large spliff hanging out of his mouth - which im sure then counts as being in a public place. I have also seen him on occasion in the car park with a group sharing a spliff, including in his car. This is probably on this site already but I cannot find it. If you pull a vehicle over because the driver is not wearing a seatbelt and the driver tells you they are medically exempt do they need to show you a certificate to prove this? I ask because someone I know is always getting pulled over for no seatbelt but as soon as he tells the officers he is medically exempt they say OK, only twice has he ever needed to show a certificate. This is a question that I thought of last night The road near me has just been chipped and there is the standard chipping signs (The MAX SPEED: 20mph signs) however these have been replaced over the last few days to read 10 mph but that's besides the point. These "Max Speed: N mph" limits (such as at chippings) never seem to be followed but are they enforcable? (i.e. can people be prosecuted for speeding whilst they are in place)

S139 of the CJA.. Can anyone tell me whether case law includes a car as a 'public place'? I seem to remember "includes any highway or premises to which the public has access, or are permitted upon payment or otherwise..." But a nagging doubt also tells me that a case defined a car as 'public'? I just realised last week that I keep my fishing gear in the boot of my car nowadays (and that includes a couple of knives). Afternoon I wanted to ask the law on poppers if anyone knows? Are they legal to carry? If someone was found to have 1 on them would they face charges? I have read that they are legal to have as long as they are not intending to supply, ie, having many bottles and not just 1? Is this correct? Thanks

Could anyone tell me when it became law?, to use dipped headlights during daylight hours in inclement weather/poor driving conditions. I have an idea in the back of my mind that whilst in the Royal Corps of Transport in the 70s I saw displayed a HMSO poster requiring dipped headlights circa 1974, can anyone help? I have tried to look on Google for HMSO signs and posters but to no avail.

I was watching a cop show where traffic officers pulled a car over as the ANPR machine indicated once of insured drivers didn't have a licence shown. The guy driving did infact have insurance for the car, but he did not have a licence (didn't re-apply after being disqual). The officer then took his car from him as his insurance stated that it would be void if the driver didn't have a licence. The guy was getting really arsey with the police until they told him they would arrest him for deception. Would the driver also be guilty of obtaining insurance (or something) by decpetion as he obviously told the insurer that he has a licence? And would he be arrestable? I canno…

A car has just parked on a residential street A rear seat adult passenger opens their door, which is promptly ripped off by a passing car, damaging both vehicles. Where does responsibility lie for this - presumably it's the adult that opened the door? How does this change if the person opening the door is a child (12) - who is responsible then? Is it the driver/owner of the parked car, or the parent (who is the front seat passenger)? Just set me thinking last night - I was carrying someone's child in the back of my car, and this VERY nearly happened !

A friend of mine is a CAMRA member ( not his job btw ) and has recently started buying barrells of beer from a local small brewery and selling them to pubs that aren't tied to a brewery. In most cases, he says, they're sold 'near enough at cost' and what little profit he makes covers his fuel costs. He does it to promote the beer basically. Is he breaking any laws by doing this ?
