Whats the law in regard to lock ins? pubs licence is till 11. but after then they let the "regulars" stay till about 1 ish? still serving alcohol for payment. if it is not allowed, would it be if they weren't selling it or if it was allready paid for (say before 11 a cutomer gives the bar £20)?

squatters have been in the news lately - after the MOD failed to get a bunch evicted from their property. I understand its a civil, not a criminal, matter - and a court order is needed to evict them. However, why can't the landlord just use reasonable force to remove them? Considering a landowner can use reasonable force to remove trespassers. I know destroying your own property with the intent to endanger life is illegal (even if its your own property) but what would there be to stop the landowner removing all windows, doors, water pipes, electricity cables &c.?

OK so a mother at 17 is accused by ex neighbours of GBH and possession of a firearm. Said neighbour has in the past caused harm, put said girl in hospital, caused harm to said girls family and have other convictions for such things and are known to the police. This girl has no criminal record and moved away from her neighbour to get away from the stress and harm they have caused. Girl is arrested for GBH and possession of a firearm after she went to contront the family about punching her in the face. The father of the family goes to punch said girl, she retaliates in self defence with a kick to the shin. Said girl leaves, family go inside, and later call the polce and s…

Many people working in security have been told that if we wear steel toe caps we can get done for possessing an offensive weapon as it will be judged that we have worn them specifically to do damage to people. Can someone clarify this? If we are just wearing them and don't harm anyone with them, can we get prosecuted? If we are wearing them and kick someone in a way that would be classed as reasonable force with any other footwear would that be an offensive weapon offence? (I'm thinking in terms of a situation where you might kick someone in the leg to take them to the ground to restrain them.) To complicate this even more - What if you work on a site where everyone e…

OK so i live in Liverpool and the numbers of knife crimes has risen (i think)and yesterday there was one too close to where i live and involved neighbours. It has hit home how prevelent knife crime is in society. I live in a place called Old Swan which is not too far from the city centre and in the past few years there have been shootings, stabbing and attacks and has led me to think for my own protection-a stab vest. What are your thoguhts/opinions? Thanks Terry

I`m sure most of us are aware of the new rules that are in play around the whole death by careless driving, whilst unlicenced / uninsured came into play recently. I`m sure most will agree a much needed bit of law to fill in the gap. All sorts of potential issues - such as 16 year olds on derestricted mopeds being unlicenced in the eyes of the law - suddenly puts them in a whole new ball game if they are involved in a fatal RTC.... Interesting times ahead I feel.... Paul

What's the law regarding photographing a nuclear power station? Many photography websites say you can take a picture of whatever you like as long as you're in a public place. However comments from some police officers and other people seem to suggest that there are relevant offences. Anyone know the truth?

If someone on a forum posts and says they are commiting suicide should a mod/admin call the police/paramedic and hand their IP address over so the person can be tracked or would that be too complicated or would it be wasting police time. I say this cos i, as well as here, i often read and particpate in a student forum and a thread has appeared and the original poster has posted anonymous and said they have taken some paracetamol and is wanting to commit suicide. What should a mod/admin do in such case. Of course it could be a hoax, a troll or even a joke. Yet it could be serious. Opinions/Thoughts? TerryW

Hi Guys, Just need your advice on something, I had a disagreement with my moderating staff on one of my forums and as a result I deleted the forum(as I owned it). Since then some members on the board have started a hate campaign including 2 members who managed to get my mobile number, pics of me from myspace and even going as low as to making posters labelling me a pervert etc with my face stuck next to them, which of course Im not going to stand for as that could cause me many problems especially considering I have no criminal record let alone for that! One of the members I have their IP and Email address from a previous forum and a copy of their myspace page, now sur…

Hi all, Just wish to discuss Domestic Violence Forms and hopefully get back some thoughts on them. I was recently called to an address after a neighbour reported an argument next door. We arrived and the male suspect was calm although he had clearly been drinking a fair bit. The argument involved husband, wife and her older son from previous relationship. Children from their relationship were also present and a bit distressed too. Sorted the matter out without need for arrest or for the male suspect to be asked to go to another place, i.e relatives, friend to cool off. I was then required to complete a DV Form which required me to describe the 'Mr' as the assailant and …

Hi all! Am I correct in thinking that rape was removed from burglary? (or am I imagining this). If I am right, can someone point me in the right direction to when and why that element was removed...I am thinking it was something to do with the commencement of the Sexual offences Act. Thanks

Just looking for some advice/thoughts. I cancelled a contract at a gym i was using back at the end of May and their policy is if you cancel the membership e.g it has to be on the 17th or before to make sure the membership is cancelled for the following month and i was after the 17th i had to pay for June which is fair enough, i paid it and didn't mind. When i saw they took the money for June (meant to be the last payment) i then cancelled my direct debit because i've heard all these stories and seen it on the news about people still getting direct debit payments off their account after it's all been cancelled. Then low and behold i get a letter from them around July 5t…
