Can a council borough exempt it's vehicles from some traffic laws? For example i regularly see council vehicles contravening no entry signs,are such vehicles subject the same as a member of the public or can the council exempt them? Could the council cause repercussions if a police officer sticks the council employees on?

Was having a chat with some regular colleagues the other day and the topic of cordons came up. I was under the impression there was no specific offence from breaching a police cordon if the cordon was non-terrorist related. However, the regulars disagreed and assured me it was an offence in itself to breach any police line. What's the truth here?

D, a local shop owner was attacked a few weeks ago. A group of around 15 yobs entered his shop, stole money, food stuff and caused inures (common assault) to D, the owner. D has made some petrol bombs just in case the group returns or he is attack again. Lawful, yes/no?

Just a quick question, i myself know some legality behind a driver being uninsured and driving without insurance. A ''friend of mine''.. haha, they are a friend rather than being me, believes that someone in his neighbourhood has an uninsured car, and is driving without any insurance, and parking on the road too. hypothetically, lets say his source of information is true, what can he do about it ? not personally deal with the situation, but who should he call etc. and what kind of speedy response are we looking at? thankyou

Hi All Great forums i have visited a few times before after a topic was referenced in a forum im a member of. I hate to register just to pick your brains but i have a question, this topic was raised at the last meeting of the local council...of which i am a member We are having problems with people parking on a pavement which has recently been laid close to a mini roundabout, also the place where the trouble is is next to a newly emplaced disabled ramp onto the pavement from the road. A complaint has been made about not being able to get wheelchairs past these obstructions. Is there anything that can be done from the Laws standpoint on this issue? Thank you

What's the law regarding homeless beggers? Whenever I walk through the high street in Preston I must pass at least 5 homeless people begging for cash. It's not a nice situation for anyone to be in, but I do have to say it's hardly inspiring to give a homeless person money when they've a can of Tetleys in one hand and a cigarette in the other. So, what's the law?

Your walking along the street and someone holds onto the zip of your rucksack, appearing to try to open it, but stops when another MoP looks at them. Has a crime been committed? If you were on duty would you do anything upon seeing this? Thanks. Edit: Bold unanswered part of question.

Hello all, I just happen to notice today in my copy of Blackstone's that Section 58 of the Children Act 2004 states force cannot be used in reasonable chastisement of children. Does this effectively mean that parents cannot "smack" their children? F&V ----- EDIT: Context error

OK so this is a little controversial for such a sight. But let me explain. I am a student going in to study IT and education to become a teacher in the future. I obide by the law and if i could would become a police officer. Now, today at my house (i live with my grandparents) my uncle whom is a drug user, known to the police and IMO a scrote. I have no contact with him and don't talk to him for obvious reasons. He lives miles away but today he was at my house (i only found this out later as he was upstairs and i was downstairs). I have been advised I need to attend court on 9th December to give evidence for the crown, but have booked annual leave for that period and will be out of the country....if I cancel I am being charged over a thousand pounds to do so and dont want to do that! Hi all, Quite a serious query here with regards an incident very recently during patrol in a local town. Officer A, not me, stumbled across his ex wife who he hadn't seen in some years outside a bar whilst she was having a cigarette. He politely said hello and tried to converse with her as the meeting was awkward for the officer too. She ignored him and carried on smoking in her seemingly very drunk state.
