Good pal of mine is a proud new home owner. He's run into some bother with kids throwing apples at his windows on a couple of occasions. While they've been in no danger of breaking, he's understandably peeved. Hi all, I hope its ok to put this in here rather than the application section. I think the depth of knowledge likely to be browsing this bit is probably neccessary to answer this . I recently applied to my local force intelligence unit for all information held on me to enable me to be accurate when filling out previous convictions and arrests on a police application. I got the info back and it had arrests and convictions on (not as many as I remembered happily !) which I declared on an application. As the title says really! I used to work for the dole and no arrests were ever made for outstanding warrants - rather the PC used to wait until the customer left the office and arrested them then, depending on who it was, after they had signed on - or they would interrupt them mid-signing and ask them to go ouside. Is there any reason for this other than to avoid a scene? Is there a difference if arresting for behaviour inside the building (abusing staff etc etc)? And is the dole any different than say, entering a pub to arrest on warrant or for behaviour? Cheers!

Is it an actual offence to move and disrupt the signs and cones around roadworks ? if so then does anyone have the definition? We saw some lads pushing cones and signs over recently, some of which ended up in the middle of the road. we asked them to put them back and they did. I just wondered whether, if they refused to move them back, we had any powers ?

Hi folks I was cautioned a while back over 10 years ago. It was a low level offence and I think i bumped into the constable on a bad day. Since then I have been active in politics and have even tried joining the police force myself. I take great pride in my reputation at the moment and wonderd where these records are stored. Any ideas?

I read somewhere that a constable can give a vet a direction to put down an animal that he believes to be in pain &c. ..... is this true? Can anyone shed some light on this?

If a preacher or campaigner is making quite a lot of noise on the street but is not saying anything likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, are they committing any offence or are there any grounds for asking them to move on? I think there is an offence of making a noise after 9pm or similar but what about during the day?

Found this statement while looking up something to do with law Am i right in thinking the statement below is at least misleading if not wrong? It is a popular belief that the police can detain a person without arresting him/her "to help them with their enquiries". Either a person is under arrest or they are not. Hypothetically speaking (not regarding funding i mean), I believe everyone in the UK should be made to give DNA/Fingerprints to reduce crime and increase safety. I am against the new (ish) credit card type driving licence. In effect I carry it with me at all times in my wallet but I dont feel as though I should be made to produce it if requested. If I did have my licence on me and then refused to show it if asked, could this land me in trouble? (Hopefully this doesnt sound tooooooooooooooo bolshy!!!)

I just went to the local news shop and there was about 10-15 kids outside. I was on my bmx so i didnt go in as i didnt want to leave it while they were there. But i noticed a smell of skunk in the air. If these kids were to ones responsable is this legal? btw i only know what the smell of skunk is from people where i work smoking it against my requsts not too.
