Smeg is 17 years old, his younger brother, Ed is 3. Smeg's parents are out for the evening and leave Smeg in charge of Ed. While Smeg is cooking Ed's tea, Ed plays with the open fire, left on by Smeg's parents. As a result from this, Ed suffers serious injuries as a result from burning and spends a number of months on a special care burns unit. Is there a specific offence commit by Smeg? Is there a specific offence commit by Smeg's parents? Is there a specific offence commit by Ed? Edit - Title change

Has a Police Officer failed in his duty, if after being involved in a minor traffic accident (damage only) he suspects one of the drivers of being under the influence at the time of exchanging details, but drives away as he is busy. The same officer then creates a job for traffic to attend at the supected drivers house, who later that day arrest them after they provide a positive sample at home?

I searched on here and found a longish thread re driving over the white marking but nothing re rights. On my way to work there used to be a traffic light controlled T junction, I approach from the road that forms the T with a road going straight through, ie the upright line in T. The lights have been removed and a mini roundabout painted in the middle. This morning the traffic going across was heavy and I was turning right. I saw a gap in the traffic to my right and pulled out into the junction, I couldn't proceed round and off to the right because the traffic from the left just kept on plowing through at 30mph ( at least! ) the van on my right stopped inches from my si…

I was cautioned for Common Assalut some 5 months ago. It is possible for the person that was assualted to take out private proceedings over this and if so what are the possible outcomes. Any advice information would be greatly appreciated.

This may seem like a stupid question but humour me. If a citizens arrest was made say for assault, when a PO turns up would they have to further arrest the suspect or if the citizens arrest is justified could you take a suspect to custody without further arresting? I think this is a bit of stupid question and you would have to arrest them yourself but i'd like to hear it from the horse's mouth :)

I've always wondered this, but why is it that when (most likely a murderer) gets sentenced in court, they are given more than one life sentance? They only have one life. Is it because of appeals?

Can somebody send me a link or an exact definition of assault please. Just that i thought assault was intimidation a person or making them fearful, as well as the usual touching someone etc. Well after watching BB i think Alex (the bitchy girl :@) has committed such an offense and BB is allowing her to get away with such, also advertising bullying (in a way) and crossing the line between entertainment and bullying. Also so i can research other stuff myself and stop pestering, anyone have a link where i can search through common law Thanks Terryw

Last week I attended a Non Injury RTA where a motorcylist had come off his bike after coming up to a roundabout. There was no other vehicles involved and no damage to property and no witnesses. Ambulance arrived and treated the male for some non Life threatening injury's. The male wanted to get back on his bike and head home dispite having a terrible pain in his back. The patrol Sergeant had asked me to take over and make sure the biker went off to hospital and to recover the motorbike if need be. I thought about requiring a road side breath test from the biker. I decided he couldn't supply a specimen of breath due to his injuries. On a point of Law please can any…

Hi there, I ws just looking at my driving licence, and saw my signature on it was wrong. Not wrong as in, I wrote it wrong, but wrong as in, DVLA haven't burnt it correctly on the licence, as my C's look like e's on it. I don't know if it's worth sending it back to DVLA just for a small change like that... is it illegal to have an incorrect signature on it? Best, Calvin

Hi there, i've been passed this forum by a friend of a friend, i hope someone could shed some light on a matter i'm severely panicking about... Basically, when i've been drunk in the past i've ashamedly incurred a couple of £80 on the spot fines. Now, i remember asking at the time if this would show on my record as i wanted to be a teacher in the future and i think they said it would not. Now, i'm currently looking into different ways of applying to be a teacher and they are asking for past criminal convictions and that i must disclosure everything. Obviously, applying to be a teacher i will have to go through a police check. I was just wondering does anyone know if th…

First off this is a great little forum, I especially found the Road Traffic section very interesting being into cars and modifying cars. I have a question... About 2 and a half years ago I was DJing in a Pub/Club for a party of 18 year olds (6th form consortium party). As with many parties for this age group there always seems to be one or two that can't handle their drink and get violent after a few barcadi breezers. On this occasion the party pooper in question aimed his aggression at me. He started by requesting a song 5 minutes from the end. Not only did I not have time to play it but I had played the song earlier on in the evening. I was polite as I always am. H…
