Interesting question came up at work today. A male had committed some offences in Scotland, a breach of the peace and a theft (of a motor vehicle), and then come to England. Our question was, could we arrest him? My crewmate decided that we couldn't arrest for breach of the peace since his behaviour, whilst a breach in Scotland was not obviously a crime in England. However I wasn't happy about the theft either, since although the behaviour would be illegal if committed in England, the fact remained that he had committed the offence outside of the jurisdiction of England and Wales. I know that if a car crashes you have to give your details, but what about a cyclist? If a car crashes into a cyclist, I would have thought the driver would have to give their details, but does that cyclist? What about a car and a person? Or two cyclists? Hi All, I am aware of the changes a few years ago relating to LED lights on cycles but recently I am coming across an increasing number of cyclists who have fitted a single LED to the front and back that is powered by a CR2032 watch battery. All those I have spoken to have claimed that they are legal - usually because the shop has told them that they are. I always try to explain to them that they are simply not safe, and that drivers and pedestrians can not see the lights as they are just not bright enough. Communal areas of a block of flats or student halls. Are they classed as public areas if entry is by a key fob system? For example, say you find a guy in the stair way of a block of flats, having someone how gained entry through the secure gates/doors, and he is in possession of a weapon, what's the offence? Having recently been to a cruise the issue of numberplates came up. Some things are obvious (e.g. italics, black and white plates etc). my question relates to the font, spacing, and images (e.g. GB, EURO etc). The law I believe changed in 2001. When they mention plates fitted after that date, does it mean any plates physically fitted, or plates that are 51 onwards? I found this handy guide to powers:- http://www.respect.gov.uk/uploadedFiles/Me...etGuide0128.pdf And as many people forget there are now powers to search if you suspect the following (from SOCAP 2005):- prohibited possession of a category 4 (display grade) firework, any person under 18 in possession of an adult firework in a public place. Any firework bigger that a party popper is classed as an adult firework (including sparklers!) So basically if you get a report of kids messing with fireworks you can search them - a really good power at this time of year and one that should be used (it's likely to turn up allsorts of other things!)

First time asking about a legal matter so bare with me, and if this is in the wrong place, accept my apologies and move accordingly. What, if any, action would be taken with regards to a vehicle parked on a road with no fuel filler cap? I have looked around a bit for an answer but an unsure as i'm not long in post. But it just seems a bit dangerous, for one a drunken muppet could spot it and think it would be funny to drop a match into the tank. Many thanks in advance.
