Hi guys, just had a thought as some months ago before I joined the force I saw a car in front of me that was swaying all over the place, obviously a drunk driver so as a MOP I pulled over and reported the reg to the cops.... Just been thinking, does anybody know the definitive legislation with regards to stopping a car whilst out of uniform in extreme circumstances like this ? I am only a week in the job so I wouldn't be confident enough just now either way but its an interesting point. Just a quick question (I know The EHO doesn't post often now but maybe they might see this), as a constable if you were to respond to or come across any evident breaches of Health and Safety Act 1974 or say Food Hygiene Regulations 2006 how would you deal with it? I know the question is a bit open ended and that major violations are often covered by common law preservation of life etc but I am quite interested

how would offensive weapon and associated legislation effect one if one was to come home too see one's house broken into and then equip oneself with a brick, knife or other weapon with a view to possibly defending oneself if a burlger &c. is found on the property. It's perfectly legal isn't it?

Can anyone advise me as to whether I can report a NEW ZEALAND driver for DRIVING OTHERWISE THAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH A LECENCE. The only documents he could produce were an international driving licence (which expired in July) and a receipt from the DVLA for an application for a full UK driving licence including full payment for the licence. Am I right in saying that I would find it difficult to prosecute him for the above offence if he holds a receipt from the DVLA which shows that he has applied for and paid for a full uk driving licence????

If an article is used to gain entry into a premises and can also be used as a weapon to cause injury i.e. crowbar would you initially arrest for aggravated burglary even if the person didnt intend to use the article?

In our area, we have recently had a new venue (nightbar) open which has had flyers done. These flyers have the front of a £5 note on it (with some minor alterations) and then on the reverse is drink offers etc. It doesn't mention 'counterfit' or 'specimen' etc on it, although the verticle serial number has been changed to the pubs name and the 'EuR' circle has the pubs initials, and the serial number above the shiny area has been shortened. Is it illegal? They aren't setting out to defraud anyone or deceive people, just grab peoples attention. i was wondering how long do they keep footage from acctv camera either if nothing has been seen and if someoen was picked up but not reported to the police, would tythat increase the time?

How would we deal with the new craze of 'graffiti stickers'? In essence, people are sticking up their tags in sticker form, which seem to be inspired by stencil graffiti. I have a problem of someone sticking up picture of Mohammed Ali everywhere near where I live. They can be peeled off, but seem to leave a mark. Would this be criminal damage? It seems petty to arrest, but taken as a course of conduct it is a problem. Any views?

Im still a bit confused about "obstructing police". Can anyone give me any info regarding this and what does someone have to do to have committed the offence, points to prove ect. Also i recently heard about threatining behaviour towards a police officer can anyone shed any light on that as well?

can someone please tell me if the law has been changed, years back it was illegal to have white lights showing forward and below a certain height, which was roughly below the bumper. is this now allowed or overlooked.

Can anyone tell me the deal with catapults,and what laws you could be breaking by using one on a public road etc. I have a problem with kids on my street using them,and not little kiddie ones either,but the black widow types with wrist supports. Wondering if someone could clear this up for me. Recently in the area I work quad bikes seem to have become something of a craze and I was wondering as to the legalities of these. As far as I am aware they will be classed as either a motorcycle or an agricultural vehicle. If they were classed as a motorcycle they would have to hold a full motorcycle licence (none of these things are anything under 250cc) and wear a crash helmet. in a stop and search in a public place you are only allowed to remove a jacket, outer coat, and gloves where neccessery. obviously you can't remove trousers but round my way the habit seems to be wearing two pairs of trousers....is it allowed under the "JOG" conditions to ask them to undo belts in order to search the waistbands and the pockets of the trousers underneath?
