Just joined the forum today after being introduced by a friend, had my final interview this afternoon for Strathclyde Police which i (just) passed. Made some stupid mistakes and thought i had blown it but they agreed to give me a chance to prove how much i want it. Need to lose about a stone and keep on running to make sure i can do the mile and a half run.

Many Thanks to all Policemen in Britain, I sometimes feel you all do an unrewarding job by what I read in newspapers and see in various towns and cities, sadly the courts and politicians dont see really how hard your job can be at times, well I for one feel we wouldnt be safe in Britain if no Police. We can do without many MPs but we cant do without police.

 Hello everyone. I'm new to this site, I'm currently with South Wales Police and need to get out! Really the reason I've come on this site is to get some info and tips on the transfer process. I've got my interview with West Mercia in September, does any body here work for West Mercia already? What is the force like? Has anybody done the transfer interview lately (for any force really)? Does anybody know anyone else who has? Any help greatly appreciated- charlie

Been reading the board for a couple of weeks now and thought it was about time to introduce myself. I am currently waiting to hear if I pass the paper sift for Cheshire so if everyone can cross fingers for me it would be much appreciated :smiley_notworthy: Juliana

Hi to you all. I took early retirement last year, leaving as a sergeant and now running my own business. Joined the forum as I have been asked to run an interview skills course for a client and could not remember every bit of the mneumonic ELBOWS. Found it via the forum, thanks. I would be grateful if anyone could let me know where I can source any training videos about interviewing skills. Good luck to you all and stay safe. Conwy

Hi All, Just a quickie to say hello. I'm applying soon and am really looking forward to it. But I have a few questions...basically I've spent the last 8 years in the nutrition field, done my degree and now I'm finishing up a PhD. Do you think I'll look a bit stupid suddenly turning round and doing something completely different like this? Will people take me seriously?! I know this career change probably looks a bit weird but I've always, always wanted to join up but somehow found myself slipping into my current career. I guess I've never actually had the courage or the confidence to go for it. Whereas now I just think 'blow it!! I'm going to do what makes me happy!!…

Hello there, just thought I'd sign up here seeing as it came highly recommended by a friend (Altair, though he doesn't seem to have been on for a while!). I'm a bobby in Lancs and I was also a special before I joined full time. I don't really know what else to put!

I have got a date for my final interview with GMP at the end of this month. I had my assessment centre on 30th January 2008 so have been waiting a while. I know the next intakes are October 08, January 09 and March 09. Anyone else in my position? The whole process seems to take forever, does anyone think there is a chance I will make it for the October 08 start? Have just found this site on google, its great!

Hi! I am Deon Munnik, an ex-Captain with the South African Police Services. I hear you have some problems with "knive-crimes" in the UK. I was stationed at a station called Steenberg, right in the centre of "gang country" where gang violence was in the order of the day. I was responsible for Crime Intelligence, both pro-active and re-active for the said area.

Hello everyone, Thought I would say hello because I am curious what the welcome section at the top of my screen will say after I have made my first post. I am hoping to join Hampshire as a Police Officer when they reopen recruitment, does anyone know when that will be? This will be my second application after failing by 1 percent at the assessment centre last time round. Anyways, onwards and upwards...... Would be nice to hear from some of you. Jane
