Question around specials recruiting I’ve done all tests. Fitness / drugs / references and so on. Im scheduled to start training in January but my application is still “pre employment” as at December. is this normal ? At what point do they formally offer you a role ? just want to make sure I have not booked loads of annual leave next year if I don’t need to thanks !

Hello 😃 Sorry for the long post. I have always wanted to join the police since the age of 18. During that time forces across the country were actively cutting officers/staff and hiring was frozen so my dream job was put on hold, which then faded off and forgotten about. Fast forward 15 years, now in my 30's, I now have a good career in the private sector, a family, bills and all that other boring stuff when you get a bit older. My local paper published an article a couple of weeks ago saying my local force was looking for volunteers to join as a special. Hi there, I'm interested in joining the police, but I've got a lot of medical issues that might slow that down, or even prevent me from joining. I'm also 41 years old with a poor educational and employment status, primarily due to mental health issues. I tried to make a new topic on the Northumbria police recruit forum on this site, but it wouldn't let me? Looking to move forces to Bedfordshire. I have been told shifts are 07:00-19:00 for 2 days then 19:00-07:00 for 2 days & then 4 days off. Is it really that simple or do they flex your duty times once you’re there? Any answers gratefully received.

Hi, I broke my ankle 28 months ago whilst off duty, due to complications and more surgery I complete an SMP interview where I was classified as disabled and unable to carry out day to day duties however in his report he explains that if I were to have an ankle fusion I would be able to carryout office type rolls. Since the H1 I have had an ankle fusion but unfortunately my ankle hasn't fused and I am now in more pain than ever. My force has conducted their A20 report stating that I am to be retained working in an office, their conclusion was on the back of the SMP stating an ankle fusion would able me to carry on working for the force. Hi everyone, I wasnt sure exactly where to post or who to see. I just wanted to seek some advice. So I got to the final stage of a recruitment phase for the police constable degree apprenticeship the beginning of this year. Passed everything, got to my background checks and failed even though I have no criminal history. The reason I was given was 'Failed due to information held on our systems" So they gave me a list of reasons to appeal. One of then being I wasnt given in enough detail a reason for failing. Hi everyone, 😎 I am new to this forum and I would really appreciate some help! I’ve recently applied and passed my interviews for a police staff role. The next stage is completion of the medical questionnaire. I would like to know if mental health issues such as depression/self harm/having time off work due to depression are detrimental to passing the medical. Of course I am going to be completely transparent about my medical history as integrity is key. I am just curious, do these health conditions mean you simply won’t pass the medical? Thanks!

Hi there. Came across this forum while googling 'Police words of advice'. It's a thing apparently. Not a thing I've ever heard of, but I have had some unsolicited 'words of advice' from a police officer on Friday. So, I made a complaint about a member of staff at my gym about 2-3 weeks ago. Area manager called me back as I asked the dude I was complaining about for his manager's contact details. Emailed the manager and he phoned me the next day. Issued refund for the month and cancelled membership. However, at the end of the call I stated that it wasn't fair that I had to leave a gym that I loved because of one guy who was not doing his job.
