Thought I would take the time to introduce my self... I've been registered with this site for a while but never posted. I work for Lincs Police as a PCSO have done for 3 years now. I am the ripe old age of 40 Was a building surveyor before that but gave it up to join the Police. I initially wanted to do 2 years as a PCSO, then become a Regular, however I love my job so much I intend to stay as a PCSO despite passing as a PC. I cover a 150 mile rural beat and are involved in all aspects of the police work in it. However I know what my limitations are and are happy to work with the tools provided. I would also like to point out I am against PCSO's having the power o…

Hiya folks. Recently discovered this forum whilst on a search for UK Police Laws and Regulations. As the description says, I'm a fresher in the University of Manchester, and also am an international student, so I haven't really been in the UK for a long period of time. I've always admired the role that the Police play especially in the UK. Unlike my own country, the police refrain from carrying firearms, choosing to rely on "Firearms Officers" or Armed Response Teams for the job. I used to think that quite weird, until I saw the statistics showing the deaths of citizens during police operations compared to key countries such as the USA. As I'm not of British descent, a…

I've done a few posts now and only just realised that I could post an introduction here. So, for those for you who haven't seen my posts... My name is Steve and I'm due to start as a constable with Merseyside police on 3rd December. The wait has been agonising - applied originally in September 06 and only recently (October 07) did I get an offer of appointment. Really happy though that I'm despite how long its taken. Really enjoying using this forum. Its given me a unique chance to experience the thoughts of serving officers from around the country. I've done what I can talking to experienced and retired officers, but face to face they never give the nitty gritty. Contr…

Hi, Im new to the site. Im ex met as of 2 years ago. I served for almost 20 years in central and north London and then moved to alberta canada. Best thing I did. If anyone is thinking of a move, I have made excellent contacts here in the "job" and can help serving or ex officers join the police here. You dont lose your pension and your service is recognised and pay scale adjusted accordingly from day 1 ! There is no cost to you at any time and no need to achieve the dreaded "points". The alberta government may even help with your relocation costs. Time frame is 6-9 months. You will be permanent residents. Please E mail me for further info. Theres no catch guys....No c…

Been a member for a short while, but not posted yet. I'm Tom, as you cannot tell from my username. I work as a Loss Prevention Assistant at the moment, and some of that job involves arresting shoplifters, which is so much fun as I'm sure you all know. I eventually want to join the fire service, but with my current job at the moment, I felt signing up to this forum wasn't a bad idea... especially if I get myself into any legal trouble! If I find out for some reason that I haven't got a hope in hell of becoming a firefighter then applying for the police is sort of my plan B. Look foward to talkin to y'all.

Just want to say Hello. I have been on the forum before and never posted and thought that it was about time I did. My name is Heather, (as you probably guessed by my user name), and I am currentely in the recruiting process to join West Midlands Police. It has taken me two years to get to the stage that I am at, which is waiting for a date for medical. Hope you all are well.

Hello, I'm new to the forum, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Big Stevie, recently joined the PSNI as a staff member. I work down at the central stores facility for the service. I recognise some user names from other places.....Nozza, Black rat, and I hope to get to know a few more of you in the near future. I'm good for a laugh and for a serious duiscussion, what ever is going on. Also enjoy a good wind-up and/ or slagging, but that will come in time after I get to know you lot better. Well I'm off to get a look around, so I'll wish you all the best for now. thanks for having me.

Most other forums that I belong to have a section for new members to introduce themselves but I don't see one here - so I hope this is an appropriate place for it. Well, I'm a serving officer with Greater Manchester Police and have done a little over 13 years. I'm an AFO based at Manchester Airport, where I've been for the past 12 months. I'll lay my cards out - I'm very disillusioned with what the police service has become. If I'd not got my current post a year ago I would have left by now. I love the job - but I hate the organisation! We seem to have lost sight of what we are supposed to be doing (locking up criminals, just in case you've forgotten) and now are just o…

Hi all I am about to attempt to join Thames Valley Police as a PCSO, judging from what I have read on this forum it will probably be the first of many attempts! I have a little experiance with Police-type work; I spent 8 years as a Security Officer at a regional shopping centre and had my fair share of arrests (robbery was my best one), fires, first-aid, public disturbances etc. I am currently a Trainer for a very large supermarket chain, actually if we get any bigger Bush will add us to his 'Axis of Evil' list My hobbies include collection and researching WWI medals to Canadian Army units, the Grenadier Guards and the Household Battalion. I also have an interest …
