Hi! I work on an acute Mental Health unit where I have regular contact with the police, mostly regarding missing persons detained on a section 2 or 3 of the MHA. Thought this could be an interesting forum to join to get the POV of the police regarding mental health law. Will post specific MH questions as and when I think of them, plus other general policing questions.

Hi All, I just thought I'd say hello. I'm just waiting for a start date for the control room. It certainly takes a while to get into the job but reading a lot of your comments, it's well worth the wait! Cheers

Hello all, recently found this site after being pointed in the general direction. Although I'm not a police officer, I'm a HATO who patrols in the North West. I come into contact with your good selves on the motorway. The only police experience I have is 7 years in the Royal Military Police and a short stint as a Civilian Detention Officer. I look forward to conversing with you good people

Hello all, I'm currently applying to D & C Constabulary. Have got through the paper sift and awaiting AC. Bit late in life to be making a career change (32), but I know I'm doing the right thing. I have spent the last eight years in the Army Intelligence Corps (thoroughly enjoyed it), but need to make a big change for my family. Any advice or comments appreciated.

Hi, I'm Mr Richard. I've been looking on this forum for a few weeks now getting advice and looking forward to applying for the Police. Now I’ve got myself a place at Sussex Police's PRE I thought I would join and get posting. I'm 20 and currently half way though my final year at the University of Kent, reading War Studies (which is really just a cool sounding name for Military History). I've been told that you can take a humanities degree and go almost anywhere you want but I've got my heart set on the Police now and I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead. Which is really why I'm here. I want to learn from the experience of others and be prepared for every step of…

Hey everyone. Just thought i would come in here and finally post. I guess i have always wanted to become a traffic cop but never really looked into it properly until my girlfriend said why not have a look on the Internet about it and see if it sounds good. So thats what i did and found out about this site. It finally sunk in after my father was killed around 1 yr 3 Months ago by a lorry speeding and clipped a roundabout and tipped with a full trailer. Anyway what i really wanted to ask was whats the best way to getting a job in the force, I know I'm going to have to wait as I'm only 17/6 but is there anything i can do to prepare myself? Thanks for any info :) Rich.

Howdy! I've been on here a while actually but not posted too many things. I've been in the job a few years but am thinking of transferring to the big smoke for several reasons. I guess for the opportunities and variety, but also because it puts me smack in the middle of where my family live up north and friends and partner on the south coast. Any views on this? What's the met like? Oh and pleased to meet you all! Chalky!

Hello all Came across this site by chance when I was a bit bored!!!! I am a SOCO in Hampshire Constabulary (or CSI as were now called) any questions? I would be happy to answer any thing to stop you lot sticking your size 9's in the middle of a crime scene ha ha ha!!! But seriously I think with the overwhelming amount of stuff that probationers have to learn now a lot of the forensic stuff is hard to remember so if you’ve got any queries just give me a message!!
