I have joined up to this forum room as this seems like the best chance for me to get information bout joining up. I am 18 years old (19 next month) and currently in college (maybe going to uni if I get the grades) and have always had an interest in the police and is defiantly one of my top career choices. I have been researching about joining up for a few weeks now but still lacking some information. Would really appreciate some short answers from you guys! :) 1. Qualifications - I have come to understand that there is no requirements for qualifications but (if I don't get the grades for uni) how much is relied on qualifications in order to noticed in the application pro…

Hello all, I'm Chris and I am a police hopeful. I have wanted to be a PC for a long time now and have taken many steps towards making sure that goal is secure! Currently I am doing the Access to Police college course and I recommend it to any who want a heads-up for the application and assessment center stages of getting in. I don't know why I did not join a UK police forum earlier, since I am sure this will be a place of invaluable knowledge for anyone wishing to join! Thanks, cant wait to meet you all :) Chris

Hello all. Nice to find somewhere so useful to get advice from real officers. I've been thinking about the police as a career change for a few years now and have finally decided to go for it, actually wish I had done so earlier. Can anyone tell me how often the met actually recruit? I know they have no events planned at the moment, and that the whole recruitment process can take a long time, but have no idea how long I would need to wait to even apply. Thanks

Hey, I'm new to this forum, and i might as well post to get to know people better. I am now 20 years old (21 in October). I have been living my life to the full since i finished college at 17/18 years. I have been training for the last year for electronic management, HPD, but unfortunately due to the financial crisis, the company has gone bust and i have been unable to find another job in the same role. I have come back to my dream job since i was a child, which is been a Police officer. I did try to apply when i turned 18, but there was no applications open. I am from East Yorkshire, east of Hull, and would like to work in this area as i know the area well. Does anyo…

I am in the process of applying to become a police officer. It is something I have always wanted to do but I was told getting experiance working in the private sector first would bennefit me. Needless to say I am done with the private sector! I want a job that will get me out of bed in the morning! I do have one question though. Once the application is submitted how long will it be until i hear if i am accepted to day 1 or not? My application could not be simpler (So i am told by existing officers) e.g. no convictions with me or family members etc. Also is it possible to do a sort of 'experience day' with existing officers? If do how do i do arrange this? Cheers Stu…

Hey there! My name is Dean Zielinski, live in Gourock, Scotland! Thanks for the opportunity to post in a community like this, it's a really informative forum. It gave me an excellent insight into the Police Force, taught me some things i never expected at all! At the moment i am sitting my Scottish Highers (A-levels). I took my Standard Grades/GCSEs last year (They went pretty well!). My original career path was in fact 3D Animation & Modelling. I really got into depth with this, taking part in a series of online courses to take my skills to a whole new level. It still is a strong passion, although the Police Force was something i never really thought a lot of. …

Hey all, I'm not new here. I had another profile but I lost all of my credentials for that and the email address it’s been registered to too. Anyway I never really said introduced myself the first time round so I thought I'd use this opportunity to do so now. Always up for a chat, if anyone is interested.

Hello to everyone, I have just received confirmation that I have passed the Norfolk/Suffolk constabulary assessment centre (not by much) and just have a few un- answered questions. One of the main ones being, the letter I received telling me I passed the assessment centre just congratulated me in passing and only said they will be in contact to arrange the next interview. I was just wondering what this next interview stage involves, I hope it is not as hard as the assessment centre as I do not know if this time I will be so lucky. Any help/advice would be most welcomed.
