Hi guy's, I am 31 and i have 3 children - i was made redundant from work about 3 months ago and decided it was my time to do what i have wanted to do since i can remember...join the police. I don't have a lot of confindence but i have drive and ambition - since reading some of the comments on here it has made me feel lots more confident in myself and my ability. I am not as academic as some of the younger one's on here and wondered how important the maths and english part of the application is? I have lots of life experience, having my first child when i was 17 and getting up off of my backside rather than being another statistic to name but one. I had my own business f…

Hi Everyone, I'm Jack! I'm from West Sussex and am 18. I've posted a couple of posts already, but then I noticed this section, so thought I'd drop by and say hello! I really want to join the Police force, and have done for the last couple of years. I'm coming to the end of my A-Levels and am trying to decide between going to Uni or joining the Police now that I'm old enough :whistle2: I like many things - much the same as everyone else probably - music, playing guitar and cycling to name a few. It would be nice to get chatting to people and find out as much as I can about life in the Police and the whole recruitment process. Regards, Jack

Hey all, not exactly new here but haven't been online for quite some time (3 - 4 years I think). I first came here as I applied for the Police around 4 years ago and got to the ac and failed by roughly 2%.. I decided that, because I was only 19 I might not have had enough life experience to pass the ac so I left it and decided not to reapply at that time. However, 4 years on and now I work with the Police every day being as I am a Security member at one of the largest supermarket chains and working with the public, Police and PCSO's as much as I do and have been in a lot of extreme situations I was told my a few officers that I should give it another go - specially as a …

I'm a sheriff's deputy from Augusta, Georgia, and have found this site linked in an American police forum. I'm here mainly just to see how policing in the UK is the same and how it differs from what we do here in Georgia. I am currently a Lieutenant in charge of a 28 man shift that is responsible for road patrol. We answer calls for service that come in on 911 ( 999? ) work most of the traffic accidents that occur, and inbetween all that try to proactivley police. We usually handle in the area of 280,000 to 300,000 every year. Our department has about 800 sworn members which makes us the largest sheriff's office in Georgia. In our we county perform all of the law en…
