:smiley_notworthy: Hi Folks I'm currently at the beginning of an application to join Strathclyde Police. I am 34yrs old and am currently an HGV driver. I have my SET and Fitness Test on Tuesday 21 April. I just thought i'd say hello. Any advice on studying material or interview insights would be appreciated, although i've been doing some research and downloaded the current mission statement and am trying to sift through that for relevant info. Oh yeah and watching Night Cops 2 (on Sky 1) just for tips! :whistle2: Cheers

Good afternoon! Am heading to the PSNI assessment center in a few weeks and bricking it. One thing i learnt during the test was 'don't worry about what the people around you are doing' I didn't finish the test...everyone around me did, and i was freaking out a little assuming i'd fail. I passed the Ambulance service test a couple of years ago in exactly the same situation. Accuracy, not speed! anyway, going to the assessment center If i get through that, the major worry is the physical tests! im an out of shape ex rugby player (we have all turned to mush since we stopped playing) so must get back into training - not so much worried about losing weight, just getting …

Hello all Just thought I would introduce myself as I’m new to the forum. I’m 22 years old and currently serving in the army, however I am in the process of leaving because I am looking for a new challenge and I believe I will find that within the police. I would definitely like to speak to people currently in the process of training especially ex forces who have made the transition. Thank you in advance for any advice given. All the best BS

Hi all, Not a big user of these new-fangled interweb message boards usually, but I've found so much useful and interesting stuff on this site already that it seemed rude not to say cheers and hello. I spotted City of London were open to new applicants for all of about three days and managed to get an application pack, which they've now confirmed that they've had back, so I'm just waiting to hear if I've passed the paper-sift. Anyone else applying to City? I notice the force-specific message board isn't getting much use. All the best to everyone who's going to spend the next year or so on the edge of their seat like me, waiting to find out about the next stage ...

Hello everybody, As you've probably gathered from the title I've got my Lancs Police Officer Assessment Centre on Weds next week. I've read books, spoken to people and had some good advice. But, I'm still really nervous because I really want to do well and get through the AC process. Has anyone been through it recently, how was it and any words of wisdom you can offer for me? Thanks everyone and good luck to all of you in the same boat.
