Well afternoon actually. I've been reading this forum since yesterday and have found it really helpful thus far. I'm one of 787032437190374382 people looking to get into the Police. Seeing as it's so tough to get in right now, I decided I need every bit of help I could get! I look forward to picking at your brains (unlucky for you )!

Hi All, Joined this forum at the end of last month and have yet to introduce myself….. So in brief My aim is to join the Police and in particular the Met, I have had many hurdles that I have had to overcome, and at one time my future dream of getting in was beyond bleak. I have been rejected 2x by Met, 3x Surrey police, and all were at last stage of vetting. ……..So have had that awful letter of rejection many times. I have been working in the Security Industry for 10 years in many forms (Doormen, Corporate Security and now CP) and have always worked on the right side of the law dealing with people on the naughty side. This has caused me to be in far from idea…

Howdy folks! I've been ambling around this forum for quite a while now... But I felt it was time to make an account and introduce myself! So Hi! My name is Sam! I'm currently in my second year of Northumbria University (took a year out after A-levels) doing English Literature. I absolutely love it to bits, but it's come to the point where I feel that my future won't be directly tied to my degree. I've always had a respect for people who do what they love, and I've always believed that University is a choice and not the only path available. Just because someone chooses to go to Uni, it doesn't mean that they are any less skills, intelligent, talented or whatever than t…

Just a quickie to say what a great site, I'm working in private security at the moment (9 years!) and army before that, 43 and nursing an increasing urge to start a new career before I go senile!! Can anybody tell me, do the police help you with any fitness training? Or would it be better to get fit before applying? I've been a while out of the gym.............!!

Hi everyone, another newby here! Found the discussion threads suprisingly enlightening, supportive and positive, how refreshing! I've decided on this big career change at the grand age of 37! Anybody in a similar situation? I've passed the assessment centre and awaiting vetting and medical. It appears im in for a long wait from what some of you guys have said?

My name is Mateusz and I'm 19 and Polish. I live in the UK since 2006 and I am really interesed about insides of the UK Police. I am also considering to join the Force in future. I really like to see the contrasts. As Polish police officers say on biggest equivalent of this forum 'can't be worse'. Lack of money for petrol in patrol cars, outstanding allowances for officers, superiors which seem to completely not have a touch with reality, uniforms which are like rag, ancient pistols getting stuck etc. So really good to read this forum and see differences

Hey to everyone. I'm new to this forum and want to say hi to you all. I've heard this is a great place to drop any questions about becoming a Police Officer. I've just applied to join the Met as a PO and am very excited about it. Been dithering with the thought for years but now the time is good for me. Hope to be a regular on this site and to make a few friends out there. Cheers Jerry

Hello Ladies and Gents I'm a 17 year old just out of school a few months back with some okay grades (ABBBC at Higher), and have been considering a career with the Lothian Police. I have a few questions I'd like to ask: 1) I'm 17 in less then 3 weeks, can I start the application now or can I only send it off when I'm 18? 2) I don't have a full driver's liscense, just a provisional. Can I apply while taking tests or again, do I need to have full status for the application? 3) What is the minimum/maximum length of service of a police constable? 4) Do you get allocated to any unit or can you choose / have preferences? 5) How long is the recruitment process? Many thanks…
