I received this email from Ms May, I think she is starting to believe her own hype. What tougher sentences is she talking about. People who work hard and do the right thing deserve to feel safe in their homes and in their communities. Under Labour, that wasn't the case. Police officers were wrapped in red tape, unable to do their job - and people didn't feel safe on the streets. So since the last election, we've been working through our action plan to tackle crime: freeing the police to do their job, giving them the powers they need, and protecting communities with tougher sentences for criminals. And our plan is working, with crime down by more than a fifth si…

I'm not sure how much this is news or not, for my grandfather, who was a special in the 1950s, also received home visits in which the police inspected his shotgun and storage thereof. http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-London/2014/10/14/Police-Begin-Campaign-Of-Unannounced-Visits-To-Gun-Owners-Homes The Association of Chief Police Officers' (ACPO), the body that represents senior police officers in the United Kingdom, has begun a campaign to send police to enter the homes of legal gun owners to snoop on them. Many of those who may receive visits cannot understand why they would be targeted and suspect it is to discourage gun ownership in Britain. The Countryside All…

The staff to be balloted include Police Community Support Officers Police staff in England and Wales are to be balloted over industrial action in protest at a 1% pay rise offer, unions have said. The staff include community support officers and fingerprint experts - but not police officers, who are not allowed to strike. More than 30,000 police staff belonging to the GMB, Unison and Unite unions will be balloted. The Home Office did not comment, saying it was a matter for individual forces. The unions said they had asked for a 3% pay rise or £500, whichever is greater, as well as a 3% increase in allowances paid to staff for being on standby. A Unison spokesman told …

A police chief has called on people to stop calling the police to deal with rows on Facebook, to allow his officers to spend more time tackling real crime. Sgt Martin Alvis said he spent three hours reviewing the many anti-social behaviour reports over the past fortnight in his patch in north Wiltshire, and was surprised that so many of the complaints to police concerned abuse dished out on the social media. Writing, ironically enough, on Facebook, the area sergeant said: “Please do not call us for Facebook incidents where you or someone else has had a falling out and then written something in the heat of the moment. “If you dislike someone enough to report them to the…

http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/522572/Tony-Cherie-Blair-Mumbai-terror-attack I could not help having a sly smile about an alleged terrorist having Tony Blair's address and having him on a hit list. I think I would have given him the address back, given him directions to the address, and released him.
