...this government really doesn't do joined up thinking, does it? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29859758 If CPS authorised (I can find nothing in the articles as to who authorises this 'new' process), do we really need to be referring more work their way at a time of the reduction in their numbers or people electing mags at a time when a lot of mags have been shut down. And this at a time of depleted Police numbers and Mrs May not being happy with bail periods. I particularly like; 'The government says the new scheme - which will also give victims a say in how the offender is dealt with - will be both tougher and more simple'. What on earth could be simpler than an In…

The revelation by the Police Federation that the morale of rank and file officers was at its lowest ever level will as no surprise to those struggling to maintain an effective police service in urban and rural areas throughout the UK. The Federation survey mirrored that carried out by the University of the West of England some months ago and indeed by internal police surveys compiled by individual forces. Whilst police surveys show much criticism in relation to the leadership of chief officer ranks, the police rank and file collective finger of blame for the inescapable fact that their morale has all but collapsed points only in one direction; namely towards Home Secreta…

Whilst not wishing to be disrespectful to the deceased in bringing this item to the forum, I do not find it surprising that the offender is described in the headline as ex-pc. He was a PC in West Yorks (as stated in column) between May 2003 and November 2004. Headline grabbing to mention a short spell in the service almost a decade ago. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-29756188

Will he do the decent thing and resign, the report proves that he wasn't up to the job in child protection and was completely incompetent. Is he any better as a PCC?. But Shaun Wright, the current Police Commissioner for South Yorkshire is Shaun Wright, who was widel…

Bet he needed a clean pair of underpants!!!!! Video in link.. A member of the public ran into David Cameron as he left a meeting in Leeds. The man appeared to collide with the prime minister as he left the city's Civic Hall. Mr Cameron did not fall over and was driven away from the scene, apparently uninjured. Police took the 28-year-old man away. He was arrested but later released. West Yorkshire Police later tweeted that no threat had been made, adding: "Nothing sinister, just a man in the wrong place at the wrong time." The prime minister was in Leeds to launch government plans to upgrade rail links in the north of England. A member of Mr Cameron's security tea…

A police chief has been suspended following "serious allegations" of inappropriate behaviour towards female officers, it has been announced. Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens said a number of allegations had been made against Chief Constable Nick Gargan. An Independent Complaints Commission probe has been launched and Mr Gargan will remain suspended throughout. He has been chief since March 2013, and a serving police officer since 1988. Mr Gargan's deputy, John Long, will serve as chief constable on a temporary basis and all officers and staff have been informed of the decision, Ms Mountstevens said. "I would like to assure the communit…
