Hey there! So I took my medical on Friday (16th Jan 2015). Does anybody know how long it takes for them to get back to me? I am so nervous and just want to put an end to my anxiety haha! Thanks in advance

Hi all, Does anyone know West Yorks policy on applications from being a special to being a regular in terms of time spent being a special? I can only assume that you must have attained IPS which I have heard takes roughly 200 hours depending on certain things, but does this force have a 2 year factor like some others do? Depending on this it may change whether someone tries to get IPS in a shorter space of time or just spaces it out over the full two years they will need to be in service. Thanks in advance.

Title says it all really! I know we were told at the seminar (I was at the one in December '14) that the blackstones manual was no longer essential as all the appropriate information will be given to us, but has anyone else already in training found that it helps with studies? I am debating whether to buy it or not as I don't want to waste money (it's not exactly 'cheap'), but want to have as much information to hand as possible to sail through the course. Even if it just comes in handy in general, even to serving SC's? EDIT: Apologies - I was referring to the Blackstones Handbook - not manual! (I'm normally referring to 'Haynes' on other forums )

Hey there! I have gone through what I believe is the entire recruitment process to be a special now, however at the Medical Exam, I failed all the Ishihara colour vision deficiency tests I have been asked to go back and perform another in-house devised colour test, I think it involved coloured items (not another ishihara test). I have kept in touch with someone who was at the same assessment day as me and he has found out that his training starts in April, so I guess I'm a bit behind now. And I have just looked at my application status online and it says the vacancy is now closed. My test is next thurday. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance

Hi All, I am considering joining WYP as a special constable but I am unsure of what hours I would be expected to work. Like many of you (I'm guessing) I'm hoping to fit this around work commitments and a young family. Do you have any say over what shifts you can work, as I would like to pick up week nights rather than weekends? Also I'm aware that it is expected that I commit to a minimum of 16 hours a month. Is it possible to do four hour shifts or is this a non starter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

I start training tomorrow morning and have the first two induction modules. Regarding the content on bishopgarth.com - do you have to ensure you learn it all at home and other areas are covered in training, or is it more of an insight as to what you'll be doing at carr gate? And just something to pre-read to familiarise yourself on the subjects? Don't worry... I haven't left it until now to read over the info! That would of been a bad move considering the website is down for maintenance!
