Hey, I joined this site due to someone telling me about it who is a special constable. I did my assessment on the 9th June and received an email on the 13th saying i had passed. I am posting my medical questionnaire back on Monday and hopefully get booked in for my medical soon . I can not believe how quick the process has been so far. Did any one else on here attend the assessment on the 9th June? Getting quite excited now lol.

Hey everyone, just a question out of curiosity really. I am red/green colour blind (have been all my life but never really affected me in day to day life) and had to be refered to an optician after my medical. Had the latter appointment this morning, where it was confirmed what I already know. Now I have to wait again to find out what the police doctor says after they receive the opticians notes. So, I am curious to know if anybody is or knows of Special Constables or Regulars that suffer from colour blindness? Or could anybody shed some further light on this topic? Any help or experience would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, James.

Just wondering if anyone on here knows if SC's are entitled to use the emergency services company shop. I went yesterday with a collegue who is a PC, and want to apply for the card but online it's talking about having proof of last two wage slips. I've tried to call the number to ask but it doesn't look like any one there today.

Hi folks Many of you will soon be completing your training and arriving at your chosen district. If so, congratulations and good luck in your new role. During training you've probably been told about PDOs and their role in your ongoing learning and development towards independent patrol and beyond. It's a new role in the organisation so I thought it might be helpful to start a topic. I'm a PC at Bradford (South) and a former Special myself. I've just completed my PDO course and I'll be mentoring a number of you who come to my area. Regardless of where you end up working, you should be assigned your own PDO. We will be mentoring you throughout your probation and helping…

I am a SC within West Yorkshire who is attempting to research how different divisions treat their SC's and how they are received by their regular colleagues. I am attempting to use this information to provide options to restructure the division I am in and provide some evidence to the Sergeant & Inspector I am working with. If you could answer they following questions it would be most appreciated, if you would prefer to PM me with your answers that is also fine. 1) How do you notify supervision that you are attending for duty? 2) Does your regular supervision use Dutysheet so they know who is attending and when? 3) When you parade for duty, what duties do you mai…

Hello folks, I'm sure as a person who is totally clueless about the police this will sound like a daft question. I am at college doing a project into the changing face of the UK police and mainly looking at West Yorkshire. I know from research that a load of police forces have changed their uniform but i was wondering has West Yorkshire Police changed to the polo shirts and cargo trousers like some other forces or are you guys still wearing the traditional shirt and tie uniform. Thankyou so much for your help. Craig

This topic is for the discussion of the recent announcement for Specials to transfer to Operations and join the Roads Policing. Its on Dutysheet for those who haven't seen, and open to IP officers. I have sent an expression of interest, and I am sure many others will. It looks to be a great opportunity for those who, like me, love traffic and want to work Operations but aren't really in to OSU. As always, lets keep this discussion to non-operational information and, before anyone asks, no there won't be Advance Driver Training for Specials (but it didn't say no to response permits...)

Hi I had my medical on 6th June but haven't heard anything back yet. Just wondering whether anyone else had their medical around the same time and if so, whether they've heard anything? Also for anyone who's passed all stages, do you get two separate e-mails saying that you've passed your medical and that you've passed all stages or do you just get notified of both in the same e-mail? Wasn't sure whether I'd not heard anything because they haven't got my references yet or something. Thanks

Hi guys and girls. Signed up to this site as there appears to be plenty discussion around the intake of Specials. I amongst many other people it seems received notification that the had been successful at the assessment centre stage. I'm still waiting on a few bits of medical info in order to get my questionnaire off. Assuming all that goes fine (and it should do). How long is it before we get the medical appointment through? how long roughly until the training seminar? Looking back through various posts on here, it seems on average there is one monthly. How long does the training take? I'm really excited about this opportunity and can't wait until I'm on the streets! Th…

Hey Guys, Since more and more people are now getting through the AC and being invited to the seminar for training I suggest that we have an individual forum thread for those who are in Cohort 1 (anyone who went to the seminar on the 12th of February) it makes sense because now we can discuss what we have learned without confusing others and can personally get to know each other better So ill start off :D When has everyone booked their first session for? Im booked in on the .25th and 26th of feb

As the title says I have my assessment centre on the 13th of May, i've been going over my competencies and thinking of examples for each of them. Anyone know how I can practise for the situational judgement test and the written test?
