Has anyone else applied to West Yorkshire Police Specials on their most recent intake (Dec 2012), if so has anyone heard anything back?! How long is it likely to take? How do you actually 'pass' the paper sift? Thanks and good luck!

Once attested, i will be at Airedale and North Bradford. Will it be possible for me to give preference of station? This division is quite large, with stations quite far apart, especially for someone without a car (tiny violins out, very sore point) and there is one station that would be a LOT easier for me than the others, along with me being familiar with the area.

Anyone checked their email? Worry over my interview performance is over - I passed :new_yummy: Can't believe it was that quick - 3 working days! Jazzpolice quoted the same time and I thought that was just a one-off.

I'm interested to hear from serving specials. Have you ever come across negative opinions of specials by regular colleagues? Over my time as a SC and a PC I have seen it several times and challenged it each and every time. I think that these opinions are derived from lack of knowledge about what specials are and can/can't do, to PC's experiencing working with one particularly bad SC who they will then tar all other SC's with the same brush. I see the same views, probably worse, of PCSO's. Where on some teams they're pretty much separate from the PC's on the team. "Specials are useless and can't deal with anything without babysitting" "Specials annoy me, they think the…

Hi all! I'm about to embark on the weekend that is pre-patrol at Bish. I've been sort of told that I'm going o be based in Wakefield Central or possibly Horbury/Ossett. Are there any serving specials on here who are based in these areas?

One for the serving specials and the specials in training... Just a bit of background on me. I am an ex Special in EA division, I'm now a Police Officer in FA division. After a late shift tonight, it's left me wondering something. Do specials take statements? When I was a special I took a few statements, it was I'm sure part of my competencies. However this evening a fellow PC was double crewed with an 'experienced' IP special. They had gone to a job requiring a couple of statements obtaining. The PC had said it was going to take him about 3 hours as he was going to have to write 2 statements. I asked the bobby I was with why the special wasn't doing one of them, he sa…

..since I've started my sc training, I've come across a lot more crimes/emergencies. I don't if I'm just noticing things more, whether I just have police on the brain, or if its just bad luck, but I've had to call 999 three times in the past 2 weeks! Never had to ever before. Maybe I just attract chaos! Good experience i suppose!

Hey guy's, For those of you who don't know me, my name is Tom and i'm a student at huddersfield university. Iv always wanted to become a police officer as I'm sure many of you guys also have and can't wait to apply to join the specials. I applied in November and unfortunately in January recieved a letter declining my application of which I have had lots of feedback on and have improved upon vastly since. I have had to wait 6 months before re-applying as that is one rule they inform you of upon receiving a letter to decline you. I was wondering if anyone knows of any upcoming recruitment evenings or of the website reopening recruitment within the months of June or July…

I have an invitation to induction seminar next Wednesday (22nd may) but I have yet still to hear if I have been successful yet. I wish they would let me know cos my boss is on my case about my availability to work next week. I don't want to turn down work just incase I don't hear anything but you can bet your house that as soon as I plan to work then I will be needed at the seminar I have phones HR today and got told Gail wasn't in untill Monday. I'm hoping this is the reason for the delay and I might find out something early next week. No ideal at all though with work.

I applied for the West Yorkshire Police Special Constabulary on the 17th of March, and heard back on the 15th of April that I had passed. I know that there have been people from this recruitment drive that have already had their interview and have already heard back! I was wondering if there are other people on here that are still awaiting the date for their assessment

Things seem to have died off in this forum lately. Is it that everyone is busy with the course? How is the course going for all the people that are on it?? How many people are waiting for medical dates still or are you like me just waiting for the status on the WYPN to update with a big fat successful at all stages!!!! Anyone attending the seminar on may 22nd if successful? I'll be there if I am indeed successful and considering I'm back from working in Germany where I'm heading tommorow via a nice drive through France then Belgium and then into Germany. (My company will do anything to save money)
