Hi, got a transferee interview on 15th March. Anyone got any tips on areas of the interview? Im guessing there will be: - diversity question - why do you want to work for us?/ what research have you done? - why should we employ you? But do they do a full ICF based interview or just an informal one? Cheers

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum after passing the sifting stage of recruitment. Very interesting site. I'm trying to arm myself with as much knowledge as possible ready for interview. From what I can make out, SC's choose when they work but I was wondering if there are set start / finish times etc. Do they ever ask you to work at specific times?

I have justseen in the 'General' Forum that someone has posted to see if it is possible totake a career break from the specials and so I just thought I would see whatthe thinking was on the subject within WYP. I have been thinking of going travelling to OZ ever since I finished uni a fewyears ago and have decided that it would be better done sooner rather thanlater. The reason for this is, if WYP start recruiting for Regulars and I’mlucky enough to get a full time role the chance to hit the road will be gone. The onlyproblem is I have recently become a Special and don't want to have to give thisup to pursue my travels. Do WYP allow specials to take a career break and …

He is a funny question for you all: Can anyone shed light on why each of our Divisions and come to think of it all other forces, rules and regs relating to who, what, when and where, Specials work differs I have read several thread stating that some forces have Specials that are response trained and even Traffic Specials, where some other forces wont even let Specials drive? Also we in WYP seem to be quite lucky as we are allowed to work with other departments other than NPT, but again some Divisions state that you have to be substantive and other Divisions says that its a Development need and some wont let you do anything other than NPT. Doesn't anyone else get confuse…

I am interested to know what any Specials or potential Specials in West Yorkshire would like to be doing when they give up their valuable time to the force. On the other hand do you do something now that is great and you really enjoy doing it and want to share that with others in case they want to try it. To kick start the thread off, I used to love doing the force wide operations for Target where we got Specials together from all over the force and then hit a town or city and did high visibility patrols, warrants etc. We got to meet other Specials that we would normally not get to see, we got to go to new areas and we got some decent tasking. It worries me that …

I've put together this diary to help all those thinking of joining, hopefully it should help! My life as a special started when I was at university, at the time I was studying Public Services. A friend who is now also a special was applying and kept telling me to apply as he thought I'd be good for the job. So without giving it any thought I applied, once I'd hit send that was it, I felt a stone sink to my stomach. Around two months later I received an email from a police email address, at first I wondered what I'd done but it turned out to be a recruitment officer telling me that I'd passed the paper sift. The email warned me that the real application wou…

Hi all, I have been accepted by West Yorkshire Police to become a Communications Operator and I have start date of the 5th March 2007. I am currently a PCSO though, and now West Yorkshire have started to recruit specials again do you think that I would be able to apply as a special now on the basis that I will be leaving my current role in the next couple of weeks. I do realise that my current jobs as a PCSO would be a conflict of interest. I think I may phone recruitment tommorow and see what they say. Any suggestions Smudge
