Building work has started on a new state-of-the-art Operations Communications Centre (OCC), which will improve emergency services across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Worcestershire. At a turf cutting ceremony this morning, construction on the £23.5 million project was officially started by the Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion, West Mercia Chief Constable Anthony Bangham and Chief Fire Officer Nathan Travis from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS). The new facility will be shared between the police and the fire service. Changes in technology, telecoms, estates and culture will mean officers and staff can work more effic…

Did you know that each day, on average, West Mercia Police responds to 199 recorded crimes including 63 violent crimes, 8 sexual offences, 21 burglary offences, 15 vehicle crimes, 5 theft offences, 17 shoplifting offences, 26 criminal damage and arson offences, 8 drug offences and 8 public order offences.* Whilst carrying out an arrest is one action we can take it is not by any means the only way that we respond to incidents and crimes in our communities. Good evening all. I'm due to start my training for West Mercia on the 12th of November. I received an email today for the recruitment team, stating the was going to be few dates added on to the training program. I also noticed dates for a phase two training, which I was unaware off. This ends with another final exam at the end of November 2017. Would this mean I wouldn't be able to be on the street etc till this is completed?

Evening all Does anyone know when the force will be taking on pcso's? I'm currently waiting to start my training for the specials in early November and really want to get into the regulars as soon as that opens. Due to my lack of level qualifications in regards to what they are asking for, I'm looking into many other courses to support my application when they do take on. My feelings are that being a special and a pcso would boost my chances up also ?
