Hi people, quick question for use. Does anyone know if Tayside Police do ride alongs? I've read about other forces that do them and they seem really interesting and would be a great experience.

Just joined earlier today, can see from previous posts that a few are already on. I'm enjoying the course but just really looking forward to getting it all done and dusted and be out on the streets. Is everyone else in the same boat? Or does anyone have any worries about it? The only thing i'm apprehensive about is regularly meeting familiar faces out whilst on duty and getting stick or serious hassle when both ON and OFF duty. I suppose this is part and parcel of the job. Current specials - it would be great to get some feedback regarding my issue or if you could share some stories, info or advice. Not long to go now Roll On December John

As i'm sure most forces do, CSP deploys officers into a pro active retail crime role in the run up to christmas. Any SC's interested in working in Stirling on this? Hi-viz pro active patrols, possibility for plain clothes etc.

Hi all, Martin here. I'm a 24 year old teacher from Glasgow and I am considering joining the force as a special. I hope a few people will be able to answer my questions. Cheers in advance. 1. When is the latest I could apply for entry in March '09? (the next intake I believe) 2. In terms of training, am I required to take time off work or is ALL training either weekends or evenings? 3. Is all training at Jackton or will I be required to attend the police college too? 4. With regard to community policing, I noticed that the Strathclyde website states that recruits usually work in the area they live in. Personally, I'd rather work in a different area a good distance aw…
