Hi there i've been told i'll be sent an interview date for the specials between april and august, however i've just accepted a new job and they're not sure if there will be a conflict of interest if i'm successful in my interview etc for the specials. They are now asking me for a job description for the specials, does anyone know if such a thing exists? thanks Morv

Hey guys, got my medical tomoro then hopefully progress to the final fitness test. I got an information sheet that says 'consists of a mile and a half run or a multistage fitness test combined with a strength test' Anyone any idea of what the strength test comprises of? Thanks Jamie

Righto. There's obviously a few of us on here who've just been offered places on the next intake, and some of the questions are causing a bit of confusion. Here's the idea, I'll post up the bits I'm not sure about in a sort of F.A.Q. format, and hopefully someone can provide the correct answers in a reply. Hi folks, couple of possibly daft questions; 1) I'm going for my uniform fitting on Wednesday, however, I won't have my proper boots by that point (still waiting on "The Letter" so I can get up to Jackton to buy 'em)- I presume it would be a good idea to wear another pair of black boots in the mean time? 2) I have disproportionately broad feet, what are the facilities for actually trying on boots at Jackton? Is there enough space and stock to do this, or would I be better off just going to Slaters? Any help appreciated, thanking you muchly!

Hi, was wondering if anyone on here has had experience in A div, and if so what is the attitude towards Special's and how are they utilized ? I've heard some stories that the Special Constable isn't given many ample opportunities to "police", i know this might just be hearsay but would like anyone's opinion on their experiences. Thanks

That's it folks. Application for the September intake are no longer beeing accepted. The next intake won't be until next year (Probably Feb). We will take applications for then but as far a September goes. Its closed. Cheers Darren

Just wondered if anyone could recommend any departments (mainly within HQ) which are good to get experience with as a special? At the moment I'v expressed an interest in working with a couple, but obviously it's usually when we're contacted and told that they are looking for specials that we have the chance to put our names forward. I'm sure that it was mentioned to me once, that there are some departments which you could arrange to work with by contacting them directly. I'm not sure which though. Hiya All. Just a wee post to say hope everyone who is passing out tomorrow up at Tulli has a good one :D The reason for my post is that on the first Wednesday in September - An annual service of remembrance is held up at Tulli to remember all our fallen colleagues. I went to Tulli with my neighbour ( Ex Inspector ) not long after the memorial was unveiled (2 Weeks after!)and it is very moving to stand and read. My mums boss, her husband ( Who was also an Inspector ) died suddenly at Force HQ in 1998 with a fatal heart attack. She will be attending the service tomorrow. I think it would be a great honour to be passing out on the day that it is the memorial day and I ho…

Folks, just out of curiosity, at waht point did you hand in your notice to your present employer after being appointed to the regs...? Was it after the final interview or after the final medical/fitness..? Do they advise you when to hand it in or give you advice...? Much appreciated..! Me.

Hi Guys, I've got my uniform fitting next week! I cant wait, ive spoke to alot of people and they say thats when it hits your gonna be a special! I'm not sure were it is in glasgow, Is it a Police stations? Is it sign Posted Strathclyde Police or something else? To be 100% honest im really looking forward to it, how long does it take on the day? Any information will be appreciated! Peter.
