Hi, noticed today that the Poppy Appeal boxes were sitting behind the counter in the supermarket, and it got me thinking. Does anyone know what the deal is with wearing poppies at Tulliallan? Are we allowed or is it a case of "it's not uniform, it shouldn't be worn"? Seen plenty of officers wearing them on the street, but just thought there might be differences at Tulli. On another note, now that they've all gone to those daft buttonhole plastic stem thingies (although I did stockpile a couple of the old style ones for eventualities), how are we supposed to wear them anyway? Since it's not like we could get away with the forces method of sticking one behind your capbadg…

Hi, I recently got accepted to the Specials but have still to receive my medical etc as I have only passed the interview stage. When is the next intake for Specials? Is it not till 6 months (next year)? Also, can I apply to be a regular police officer at this stage if I have not officially started as a special? Thanks in advance.

Hi guys I was wondering if someone could tell me what sort of hours the shift pattern covers. I'm aware that there is an Early, Back and Night shift, but have no idea as to the actual hours of the day these cover. Many thanks.

According to another post on another forum, arrests in Scotland are different than england and wales in that they aren't arrested in the street, they are detained until they get to the station, and are arrested at the station. How do they actually happen? Is this correct?

A few weeks ago after I went for my uniform fitting, my dad asked if I was issued a sort of tight fitting, side fastening, sleeveless hi-viz vest, as he'd seen the police at Glasgow Airport wearing them. I hadn't and presumed it was probably special issue for airport duties or something. Then a few days later I was walking through Queen St. Station and there was an officer there wearing a hi-viz cover on his stabbie. He had his back to me, so I couldn't see the cap badge, but I presumed he was BTP and not Strathclyde. However, on Wednesday night I was in Glasgow city centre, and noticed a couple of dog-handlers wearing what looked to be hi-viz covers on their vests. So do…

Hi all just another topic hehe I'm currently a full time youth worker, working for the local council. I live in Q division (QC sub) and im about 12 miles from where I work in Lanark, Im just looking for your thoughts / opinions on if I chose to be put in lanark police station (probably the most apropriate) if i was appointed. Do you think that would be a conflict of interest?, working in the normal job & a special in the same town? should I bring that up at an interview if I got one? etc much apreciated

Has anybody got a clue as to the situation for the swearing in of Specials? Is it now wide spread, a very informal event? Do Specials the same as the regulars get a Certificate to say they hold the office of Special Constable? Or has this been done away? It's just my reading of these history books mention certificates from Strathclyde Police were issued to all there Constables inc the specials. Thanks
