I'd be keen to work in North Lanarkshire if I was accepted? Is it a guarantee that I'd get that division?

Im thinking of Joining the specials, as i feel it would give me a greater chance of becoming a full time officer. However im only 18 and my mum thinks im too young. But in my favour im a manager of a local football team, been a coach for the last 3 years with other clubs, and have done a care course and currently on a sports course hopefully to be a pe teacher (if police fails ) and i can drive and have 3 sqa highers. But the thing that really wories me with it is, im dyslexic and really bad with maths (like can't do 4x table etc.....) really really bad at maths. Any help

Hi all. Just a quick topic to get your views on this. As far as Im aware, forces down south operate pro-active special units where they patrol local hot spots and offer assistance to local crews. Does your force operate such a unit? If so, what are your views?

Hi all, thought id let you know how my first shift went tonight! I started at 3.00pm, which appears to be awkward, as my duty serg was not on untill four, so i went to get my uniform on and then waited for serg to come in! She was really nice, went through for a coffee then got called by her when the briefing was due! This was interesting, bascially explained who they were looking for, and what had been going on recently within the local areas. At this she explained to me that i would be covering prestwick area, and a reg would come in and get me. Today was my first night out; I thought I would inform you new specials what it was like for me... As you can imagine, I was really nervous prior to starting the shift. I never really knew what to expect, what my colleagues were going to be like, what the people I would be speaking to were like but it was a really good night, a quiet one but a good one. I arrived at the station at 17:30 ready to rock n roll, the staff at the entrance were very helpful and I got talking to an ex-special who had recently joined the station as a probationer. Its the annual E Div openday this Saturday starts at 11am if anyone fancy's going

Passed entrance language paper (results today and who wouldn't at a pass minimum of 20/40). Now I'm waiting for the medical and eye forms, while they make sure I'm not anything bad in checks! The recruiting officer said to expect a wait of up to 2 months while they check me out. Rather a long time I thought. My only concern is my eyes for the medical. I think after I have submitted the forms I get a hearing and fitness test, which will not be a problem. So around April time I assume I would have an interview. Any tips on this forum for passing that and what questions are asked? The only interviews I have done are for paltry students jobs like for Primark etc which are…
