Hi everyone For a while now, I've been wanting to apply for Special Constable. There has only been 1 thing that has prevented me from sending in the application form and I wanted some advice about it. When I first decided I wanted to become a Special, I was 18st 9lbs. At that time, I didn't want to send my application form in because I thought my weight would jeopardise my chances of getting an interview. Now, I'm 16st 9lbs, loosing on average of 4 pounds a week. I decided to radically change my diet and exercise regime so it would give me better chances of getting an interview, or even being hired. Having the Special Constable application form sitting in my drawer h…

Okely dokely... Having toyed about the idea of applying for the specials then ditching that idea and opting to go for the regs, I've decided to go back to my original idea of applying for the specials for a few reasons. But a couple of specific questions I have just now before I fire off an application form.. 1) The application process... what is the exact process for the specials? Paper sift, open evening, medical, etc and is there or is there not a fitness test - some people/forums I have spoken to/read say yes, others say no. 2) Medical - did a search on the t'internet and came across this... http://www.metpolicecareers.co.uk/media/pd...dance_notes.pdf Now I kno…

Iv been tryng to research the structure of NC division - cumbernauld and kilsyth. On the website it says Chief superintendent Graham Cairns is divisional commander. However when reading other articles on the website it says Chief Superintendent Caroline Scott is divisional commander with Superintendent Henry Campbell responsible for cumbernauld, airdrie and coatbridge. Im i just been stupid? :D How does the stucture work? like is it Cheif Superintendent, then superintendent the sergeant then PC? Also are community teams different from normal on the beat pc's? what do they do different? And as a Special, is there a whole different structure of people in charge of me, j…

Hi there, Can anyone shine a light on the process for reclaiming out of pocked expenses? I need to know firstly how much can you claim per mile for traveling to Jackton & Dumbarton for training. Secondly can we claim for lunches that we have had to pay for? Thirdly, do we just need to see someone at the station to set us up on the system for (scope) to reclaim the expenses & for accessing e-mails.? I have only had two shifts so far & not had a hope in hells chance of getting time to do expenses so was going to ask one of the Sergeants if I could come in outwith shift time to do them if possible. Finally, one last thing, I was only issued with 1 set of e…

Hey, Just wondering if anyone had any input on what the best type of boots to buy for duty? I'm just about to start training end of next month and need to buy a pair before then. Magnum boots have been suggested - would anyone agree these are the best type to buy? There seems to be a lot of different types of Magnum boots available, any tips on which ones are best? Any comments would be much appreciated! Karen

Just off the phone to a special of 6 yrs...really helpful guy but says you get very very little training in the law and need to know your limitations on the street. I'm a little siappointed tbh...I don't just want to make up the numbers - I want to know my stuff so I can utilise it on the street if I need to. What's people's thoughts on this? What is the training in this dept. like and is there scope to formally enhance your skills should you so wish? Martin

Anyone have any idea of how this will work. I know miimum of 90 hours to be done by march - is this end March? I should have that completed by that time but I am still very unsure as to how the payment actually work's. Is this based on the tour logs that get completed and sent to Cambuslang - or is it just took from the Shift planner's.. Anyone with any information on this to help clear my mind would be great Thanks in advance

Hey all! Went along to the station today - met regulars from the community policing team & their sergeant, they were great! Had a good hour and a half goin round the station asking questions & all, they were really helpful & welcming - so easy to talk to and willing to help out. So! Anyone getting an interview soon (ish) lol, get down to your station & have a chat - really helps! Sergeant says with my interview on Tuesday, i've to report for duty on Wednesday :D (oh, and i've to bake them some cakes :D )
