Hey guys, Just wondering - i have just got into regulars for april and after my medical they give you a DVLA form to have your drivers lisence extended for minibusses etc? Do you know what you have to select on the DVLA forms as you can select minibusses but you can also select C1 and D1 ? Thanks in advance!

I'm new to the forum, but was wondering if there is a big intake in April? Was hoping to start in March but there seems to be a freeze on new recruits for March and have been told i start on 6 April at Jackton. Also, if anyone lives westendish in Glasgow and is struggling for a lift i could take 3 in the car? If so let me know. Chris

From what I hear, the standard issue torch is less than perfect and there's something about it not fitting in the holder provided? What are the best/brightest torches out there? Looking for: As bright as possible As light as possible As sturdy as possible. Is LED the way forward and what size should I be looking at? I'm thinking boots, a torch and a decent pair of gloves should see me sorted. Martin

ok, time to get off topic here. Whats your favourite program? In my house there is a constant fight over the remote and it can be quite brutal. The fight centres on a fight between top gear and airport on a sunday afternoon. So my question is two tiered. 1) have i got any legal rights over the remote control? 2) what side do you sit on, top gear or airport(airline, airport usa and others)?

Hi, what happens after the medical? More vetting? Also how soon after the medical do you get your contract of employment? I cant wait to tell my boss, he should be ok but I am going to savour every second when I do, thats assuming I pass the medical. I should do, only been ill once on my adult life (properly) so hopefully nothing nasty I dont know about. What about suppliments? I heard someone got rejected as there was too much iron in their blood, but they take supplements daily along with vits, is there any truth in this as I do too! I just want to know what the point of no return is, so I know I am home free! Cant beleive I am through all this and still feel app…

Hi guy's n Gals, firstly a huge thank you to everyone at http://www.policespecials.com, it has been a great source, if for nothing else, pointing me in the right direction, and making it apparent I am not alone! So thank's for that. Final interview is upon me, its been a long time since the envelope was posted, found out I was the victim of Fraud along the way, kept things delayed 4 months, but were here at last. Hopefully give me something to talk about in the interview anyway. Ok so the reason for my first post? Final checks. So far I have done all my own research (the the help of http://www.policespecials.com) and met with Probationers, Community officer etc (a…

I believe I'm correct in saying that specials aren't trained to drive with blues and twos as a matter of course due to the costs involved. I am a member of the IAM and was trained by a serving Strathclyde traffic cop. As a result, I would be extremely keen to reach the standard required by a response driver, so much so that I would be prepared to pay towards the cost of the course if I was ever given the opportunity to do it. Does anyone know of any Strathclyde specials trained to this level and can anyone tell me how much it costs to put an officer through the training? Cheers, Martin
