I recently Applied for the specials after many, many years of deliberating with myself as I had convictions dating back to 1989, This was my one and only mistake in life and have regreted it ever since. I am looking for a two things, What are peoples views on the subject and the other being Does anyone have any information on Strathclydes Recruitment Policy on this matter, I have been onto the Home Office, ACPO and ACPOS websites there is a policy down south but nothing in scotland, Based on the English Version if I was applying down there I would be eligable, I did disclose these on Application. These were from when I was a young stupid easily influenced 17 year old a…

Hi guys, This might come across quite surreptitious, and I kinda intend for that as I don't really want it to be well published what I am putting. It is nothing to do with the police itself, but I'd quite like an opinion of a serving officer if anyone is happy to give that advice. I could call the police direct, but I don't want it to seem like I am wasting time. Any takers I can PM the situation to?

Hi guys, Have just sent my application away the other day so hopefully will get through to the SET/fitness stage. Anyway, I've been trying to get my running time down for the past couple of weeks before I applied as I know sometimes a date can be given quite soon. I'm really struggling to get my running time down to 14 mins on the treadmill, haven't been outside running yet, I'm just not a great runner. So does anyone have any advice that could help? Thank in advance

Hi, Should I be worried regards my application, I am about to send off to Strathclyde. I have only just missed 2 payments recently on one of my credit cards as I have been in the process of getting a big inheritance cheque from my family. All my managed debts are now clear and paid except for mortgage, a bank loan for about 80k that is up to date and a lesser loan for about £20k thats also never been missed. I am worried that my owed money debt level is going to stop me on application, even though all payments are being met comfortably each month between the wife and I. Please help or message me so I can discuss further as I am very keen to be accepted and I am prepari…

Hello, I've emailed recruitment about this and am awaiting a response (will call if I don't hear), but in the mean time I'm just wanting more opinions from people on here about the situation I'm in. Just over 13 Months ago (December 2008) I was charged for 'Licensing (Scotland) Act' for not checking the I.D of a customer the police had sent in to do a test purchase. I received a reduced fine of £150, down from £250 as I have no previous convictions and provided evidence to support good character and that I did check identification on a regular basis. Is this going to cause a serious problem when applying? I have mixed opinions on this, I do know that it's such a min…
