I was just wondering if anyone on here is a Special Constable? I went down to my local station yesterday and today and no Special Constables where working. The problem is that this is the last time I could make it to a station before my interview. So my main questions were going to be: 1. Is there any difference between the Special Constables uniform and a Constables unifrom. I don't know if I am 100% correct here but I take it, it is just the badges on the shoulders? 2. Is there any other differences I need to know about? 3. On a shift what are you likely to be doing? Thank you in advance for any answers given.

How many times have you applied for a position as a Police Constable to Strathclyde Police. ? If you were unsuccessful, how did you feel about it.? Where did you think you went wrong.? Have you rectified the problems and are you now serving.?

Just wondered if anyone knew when we can apply for the regulars after joining as a special. We had been told on our course that we would have to wait a year before the application would be considered but what wasnt made clear was if this is from when we were appointed (i.e. had passed the final interview) or when we passed out - which was 3 months later....... Having only passed out in June, I know this is a bit early but just wanted to get an idea (the sooner the better )!! Thanks muchly, Jo

I just want to confirm the selection process for Strathclyde with you all, more than likley its been posted before but there are so many differences between forces I am getting a bit confused. Paper sift SET and initial fitness test (is this just BMI and weight?) Initial interview and role play (mainly about the job and what you know about it and key competences?) Vetting Final interview (with senior officers and more about you as a person) Then if you are sucessful you will get a start date Then...... 1 week at Jacton 15 weeks at Tulliallan 104 week Probation on the job And no home visit during the process? Is that correct?

Not wanting to get too carried away yet as I have only sent my app off, As I'm from n.ireland me and my girlfriend want to move to scotland. I currently work for an IT company in belfast, moving to scotland is a dream for both of us and joining the police is a bigger dream for me! Not wanting to leave my current job too early and maybe not get in to the force. I would have To do a months notice if I was to leave my job. Any ideas

i have my final fitness next week, and assuming i pass this i expect that i will be given a start date and by going by recent posts march the 8th seems to be the most likely start date, but my wife is due the following week with my 2nd baby and so id clearly not want to go at that time, and further more in about june or so i am expecting a bouns of possibly a few thousand pounds with my present job and again clearly with a 2nd baby that would come very handy particularly as im take a pay if i join the force.... so is there the option of delaying your start date. thanks

hi all got a start date - 8th march and was wondering wheres the best place to buy boots and parade shoes? and if theres any books or anything that i should buy for going to jackton/tulli? thanks

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation, or can guide me to the right place. Obviously I need quality footwear, both at Jackton/Tulli, and when i'm out and about. The problem is I have size 14 feet. I managed to get a paid of DB shoes from the SPRA shop at Jackton, but they're made for wide fitting feet (i'm the tall skinny type). They fit size wise, but because they're wide, if I tie them up tight i get a weird bubble. I've searched online and tried quite a few places for shoes but can't find any which are suitable. Nearly all have a toe-cap, which the induction booklet says I cant have. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can grab a pair of proper s…

Hi all, Can anyone confirm the pass marks required for the scottish police sets. Also anyone know what decides if the physical is beep or the 1.5 mile. I am trying to work the best way to build my running up, I am confident I can manage both but I reckon a beep practice could be in order I sent my app away to strathclyde just over 2 weeks ago and got a reply back last saturday saying they acknowledge my application and that the next stage is SETS and fitness and I will be contacted as soon as a date becomes availible. I was quiet suprised that I got past the papersift in 2 weeks. There seems to be so many rumours flying around regards start dates and speed of applica…
