Hi everybody, thought I would post this video I saw on Youtube for all the people who are interested in becoming a special constable for Strathclyde Police. It gives us a look at the work of a police special through the eyes of a real officer and it gives us some info about the special constabulary aswell. After watching it, it gave me a good understanding about the work of a Special. Video Link: Let me know what you think..

Hi Folks, My old WC Holder is now beyond repair. The leather one with the old Force metal badge within. Does anyone know where or how I can get another one of these? I have asked around in the local station to no avail nad no clue! Suggestions have been made I keep this in my money wallet. However this is not practical as I have in the past lost this (with warrant card inside!) Cheers :-)

Hi, thought i would start a wee thread to see if people in strathclyde would rather use the current issued torches or buy their own torches. I have had a LED Lenser P7 (same as the T7 but different body) and I use it all the time, especially in the winter, now I dont know what the issued torches are like, because I'm not in the police yet, but I'm sure someone will tell me what they are like. I've seen other threads on this on another well known police forum and people have said the ones issued are garbage :D ... so lets see what you guys think of your's Thanks soon to be PC Christie

Hi all, I see Strathclyde are now trialling the use of tasers and plan to issue them to all officers if the trials are successful. What's everyone's thoughts and are tasers ever likely to make it to L&B? (or are there any trials planned?). Cheers

I was going to pack it in but now that i'm settled in my new job and home im going to give it another go and im booked in for 7 hours next fri. Im excited (which suprises me) and very anxious, pretty sure I will not remember how to use the radio! argh!!!! Also iv been using my boots to walk the mutts, so they will need a polish! God - im going to be such a wreck!!! Anyone applied for regs? How's things going? Kirsty

Hi, does anyone know if Strathclyde Police does the ride along scheme, because I would really love to go on one. I thought they may have introduced it now because they have those new mobile police offices (which can only do patrol speed) so that means nobody would be getting involved in any high speed chases when doing their ride along. It would be good if they did do it becuase they have stoped the work experience program ("because students aren't benifiting from going on it") this would give people a good chance to see first hand what the police do.

What's does everybody think about the new budget cuts? What does this mean for the Specials who are looking to apply for the regulars over the next couple of years? Wonder if they will have a recruitment freeze for a while... Full story below http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish...86908-22012801/
