I see that Strathclyde are advertising transfers specifically to Argyll and Bute. It's a beautiful area of the country that I visit often and have on occasion wondered what it would be like to work there. As I've been on a bit of a downer with my own force recently I must admit to being tempted. So, anybody working that area? What's the reality? Would it suit someone sick to death of working in a major inner-city area and all the muppets and pond-life that such work entails? Would it suit someone who has seen and done pretty much everything bar sheep-rustling and could really do with a change and doesn't particularly mind a relatively quiet life? I'm sure if I make enqu…

Hi guys and girls Recently passed my initial interview and have my final interview in november. Just looking for anyone who has their final interview soon or has already passed it to give me some advice. I have been studying the stuff I did for the initial interview in more depth plus looked the the Chief Constable's annual report. Is there anything else that I should look into and any tips on what to say or what not to say? The probationer I spoke to advised me to use this site to get help and advice. Any help would be great, Thanks

Hi all I'm due to be starting L&B SPC training on Sep 26th and can't wait and I'm very much looking forward to meeting you over the next few weeks / months. I read a topic in the General Discussion forum (http://www.policespecials.com/forum/index....showtopic=96148) which highlights the conflict between our day jobs and the voluntary work we are signing up for. Perhaps one or two of you will have addressed this already with your supervising officer? My concern is that if L&B impose the WTD policy and the fact that we are volunteers is effectively overlooked, I would not be able to join the force as I work a Monday - Friday 40-50 hour week. Can anyone comment …

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows whether Strathclyde Police run anything such as a mechanic apprenticeship for school leavers. My son is looking to do this as he is near ready for leaving school and has looked everywhere he (and I) can think of, and no luck. We emailed the recruitment section but as yet no reply. In case it's relevant, we are currently in North Lanarkshire but it wouldn't matter is the apprenticeship/scheme was in Glasgow or something. Would appreciate any advice. Many Thanks Marko

Hey folks, just had my initial interview today. I'll be the first person to admit I wasn't as well prepared as I should have been; but I did try my best. I looked too far into the force and community rather than myself as a person, so wasn't fully prepared for the questions. Anyway.. I DID pass and I'm onto the Assessment stage. That is, as long as I pass vetting. (I got charged when I was a lot younger for housebreaking, about 13.) I was told this may affect my application severly. Considering it was years ago - will it really affect me? Cheers.

Found this on the fantastic Gumtree site: http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/46/50536546.html Seems to be operating as a slightly bigger operation than your standard Neighbourhood watch. Don't know what the company is, an email reply simply stated they have dealt with over 100 cases from Robbery to Missing Persons, but don't have the power to arrest. In a way, passing themselves off as a Private Investigation Company, buy why call yourself Private Police?

Hello, just joined up a few weeks ago as a Special Constable with Fife Police. Still doing training at the moment although I only have a couple of weeks to go, then what I'm sure will feel like a long wait until I get my vest and the rest of my equipment before I can go out and about with the reggys! I'm in the same class as "plr06" on here, both of us have the same opinions im sure, trainings been great and looking forward to going out and experiencing some of the action... can I call it that? Anyhow thats all I can type, watching my last film, before I get the books out and start swatting up for the exam we have at the end. A bit nervous about it to be honest,…
